Personal Narrative Speech On Football
“Quick! Get him to the emergency room!” The surgeon yelled. I remember something very faintly, about me being on the football field, one game away from the playoffs. How did I get here? Well, there is no time to remember now, my knee hurts like hell and the anesthesiologist is coming in. Well, I do remember… I finally woke up. I asked the nearest doctor, “Where am I? What happened?” She says, “Before I tell you what happened, you need to rest”
“But where am I?”
“You are at Johns Hopkins Hospital, in Baltimore”
“I was in Colorado. How on earth did I get here?”
“You have been here for three weeks, after being sent here from Foothills Hospital in Boulder. You were there for a total of two weeks.”
“So I have been out for five weeks?”
“Yes”

I get ready in a matter of minutes. I don’t have time to brush my teeth, so I just go straight to the combine. When I get there, I realize that it is an amazing stadium. The stadium that will kick off my NFL Career. My first event should be the bench press. Lets see, I’ll aim for about 35 reps, since that does not involve using my knee. 1,2,3,4...25,26,27,28...35,36,37,38...41 reps. Wow, 6 reps more than expected. The people watching me are going crazy, even the scouts. My draft stock is back up to the second round, one of them tells me. Vertical jump, my should-be hardest event. I will try to at least get 37 inches. But I fall short, by about 4 inches. Not the best vertical jump, but did average for a linebacker. My draft stock is almost back to where it started though. It all rides on one event, the 40 yard dash. If I do great in this event, I can prove that my knee is not as bad as people thought is was. I hear the starting sound. I run, 10,20,30, then suddenly, at the 34 yard line, I trip. No, I botched the one chance I had to redeem myself. My draft grade is going to slide down, back to the 4th round. Suddenly, I look up, and I see something I can’t even believe. Coaches are coming up to me, congratulating me for what I did. 4.21, a new 40 Yard Dash record! That trip didn’t hurt my draft grade, it propelled me to the new 40 yard dash

“LET’S GO BOYS!!!! LET’S WIN THIS!!! BEAT THESE RAVENS!!!!!!” The crowd was screaming and chanting wildly as we began to run out of the locker rooms and onto the large football field. I lead them, raising my arms up and down to signal the crowd to get louder with their cheers. As I did this, I was also sprinting to the middle of the field through the large slit that was cut for my eyes. I turned back to the crowd in the stands, and the players ran around me, with smiles of their faces, to get to their positions and the bench. I started to jump and raise my arms, “ FROGGY!!! FROGGY!!! FROGGY!!!” They all chanted my name in union, some of them even had signs and horns! A large smile crept onto my face behind my large mascot mask, and I couldn’t…

Eighth grade year, gym class, flag football. I remember this day like it was yesterday. I had a fuming hatred for the gym teachers and their actions toward these pre-pubescent kids who take everything a little too personally, but with these rude teachers each and every reaction from each and every kid was appropriate. The only way I could describe these teachers is 40 year olds who find joy in making 13 year olds miserable. So, it all began when the flag football unit started. I wasn’t afraid of the evil humans we called gym teachers; I spoke my mind. Football was usually the last unit every year and every year the girls had to relearn how to play football, while the boys got to go play outside right away without an ounce of review. Because I am me, this wasn’t going to fly.…

I shuffled across the field watching the running back take the ball running to the right side. I was the only one there to make the tackle Tyler and Kai both got blocked by Lineman and Landon got blocked by a receiver. I ran across the field, we both met at the pylon I only had to hit him out of bounds so I dove……. And I missed. As I fell to the ground my eyes were closed. I opened my eyes and I felt a sharp pain in my right elbow. It felt like my arm had split into 2. I looked over and I saw Landon.I said “ Landon go get the coaches I think I broke my arm.” I thought I had a broken arm. So he looked over at my arm and said “ Oh my gosh.” He started screaming for the coaches saying “Koen hurt his arm! Koen hurt his arm!” As Landon was getting them I was wondering what was going to happen to me. I was about to throw up, I…

My hospital bed was ice cold and the bleak and empty white walls depressed me as the uncomforting thought that I would have to stay here for maybe another week brought tears to my eyes. The usual and oppressive smell of disinfectant lingered in the room as I recalled that night in my head, trying to convince myself it wasn’t my fault, as I had done everyday since the accident. It was the day everything changed and my life was turned upside down. Forever.…

My mother decided I should see a specialist in Nashville after not being satisfied with our local doctor’s diagnosis. When I arrived at the doctor's office, I explained to the doctor in detail what had happened and he immediately recommended an MRI. Vividly I remember laying down as they pushed me into the colossal machine. It was miserable lying completely still like a statue for an hour while hearing the loud clicking noise of the massive machine. A week later, I went back to the doctor to get the results. He informed me that I had a tear in my labrum and that it would require surgery. But it wasn't the worst news. He then explained that he did not recommend that I play football ever again. When I heard those words, it was like the entire world stopped for a few seconds. I was heartbroken. Not being able to play the sport I fell in love with when I was just 7 years old made me feel dejected. I didn't know how I could live without playing football, but I had to accept my new reality. I had the surgery at the beginning of my sophomore year. After months of physical therapy, I was ready to find a new sport to play. Shortly thereafter, a friend introduced me to the game of…

My soccer career started as soon as I could walk, but somehow I still wasn’t very good at it at the age of 13. You'd assume ten years of practice and a sister who'd been the mvp of her high school team would have rubbed off on me, but that wasn’t the case. That is to say, I wasn't absolutely pitiful. I was pretty quick, and I could get a good foot on the ball about four times out of ten.…

Gazing across the lush field I lay my eyes on an enthusiastic crowd. Emotional chants rise from their voices but are immediately silenced from my hearing as the referee whistles the ball into play. I bend down to get into my stance, one hand down with my middle fingers balancing me into a running back stance. I feel the sweat dripping down my face and into my eyes causing a sizzling pain that brings my head back into the game. I knew it was only a matter of time, despite that it was only halfway through the third quarter. I had to make the most of the time I had left.…
