Personal Narrative: Sister Holidays Of Thanksgiving
Sister Holidays
Every Thanksgiving since about 2012, my older sister and I would wake up really early just to kind of clean up the house, arrange some things around, oh and also take the elements that we will be using for the meal out of the refrigerator. We start off by taking out the chicken breasts, smoked sausage, shrimp, crab legs, crawfish and marinate each of the items into different bowls, making sure to avoid cross contamination. After doing so, we wrap the bowls with Ziploc plastic wrap and place them back into the refrigerator. Removing the broccoli and mint leaves from their packages, we cut them both into tiny pieces and rinse them in cold water, placing them into a plastic container and let them sit for a while. I usually place three bottles of

When they get to a certain stage we add in the broccoli and mix them all into one. You can smell the goodness within the kitchen, it smells like heaven honestly. All types of seasonings floating around being cooked in many delicious ways it’s like one will know when to awaken. Once the shrimp, sausage, and broccoli has been made we remove them from the pan.
Adding a tad bit more oil to the pan just enough for us to cook the crawfish with.
Checking on the pasta, and watching the crawfish cook we add in the mint leave to the pan and stir them together reducing the temperature on the stove from a high to a medium low so the leaves wouldn’t over cook. Placing the pasta into a container eliminating the pasta water from the actual pasta we start to combine each of the items into one huge pot. Now to my favorite part, adding the chicken Alfredo sauce to the party and mix every ingredient together.
Setting the table and placing the sharing’s onto every seat making sure everyone has enough to eat. I take the apple ciders from the freezer and share among everyone. Saying a prayer and doing a toast is the best part of it all. Hoping everyone’s thanksgiving was as special as mine.
Happy

Now, you are ready to begin cooking. Start off by pouring six cups of water into a stove safe bowl. Turn on your stove to the highest temperature so you can get the water to boil. This process of making the water boil will probably take around seven to ten minutes. After the water has come to a boil, reduce the heat on the stove to around three quarters of full power. Once you have done this, pour the macaroni noodles from the box gradually into the water. Let the noodles sit in the water for eight to ten minutes or until the noodles are soft. Stir the noodles occasionally to prevent the noodles from…

Cooking spaghetti is a long and tiring process. One might think all you do is boil water, put the noodles in, and slap some sauce on top. But to get the best tasting sauce, it has to be homemade. And after spending all the time to make that special sauce, there is still more waiting to do. Time must pass slower when waiting for water to boil. When it finally does, putting the spaghetti noodles in takes time to ensure that the noodles get cooked evenly and thoroughly. And as the noodles are finishing the cooking process they must be strained of all that oily water. If the sauce isn’t put on right away then the long, thin noodles turn into clumped up blobs of spaghetti. Now is the good part; the time to eat the masterpiece! White shirts almost always attract some stray splatters of the dark, red sauce. Spaghetti sauce is like a stubborn child that never wants to go away! It will stay on that shirt and dish until some hard scrubbing is done. And in the end, all that hard work was done for just a little taste of Italy.…

    Meaning of Food Recipes

    • 1950 Words

Recipes continuously have been passed down from generation to generation, but do we really know the meaning behind these recipes? The meaning in cooking-related terms behind recipes, is simply “taking back,” or “receiving.” Whether it is just a simple recipe, such as my grandmother's “chicken and spaghetti”, it's important because there is always a story attached to the recipe from those who originally made it. People often use the making of the recipes as an opportunity to tell stories of the past and of how the recipe was originated. There are many people who believe that recipes aren't important and don’t have any meaning; that they are just simple instructions to making food. On the other hand, there are people that believe that recipes have many different connotations. In my opinion there is no end to the meaning and importance of family recipes. Every single recipe has a unique meaning to them, in my case my grandmother's recipe helps bring our family together. Cooking from the heart, side-by-side with the people you love, is more than just keeping your family fed; it's keeping them united.…

As the noodles are cooking, I heat the sauce in the medium sized pan. I check in on the noodles and they seem a little under cooked so I leave them there for a couple more minutes. When I assume the noodles are just right I check on them and find that all the water has evaporated and the noodles are burned at the bottom and suck together. I scrape off the bottom layer and leave it in the pot to cool down. For some reason it occurred to me to run a fork through the strand to see if I were able to separate them. At first it started to resemble the noodles, but I got a little carried away and ran the fork through to many times and the pieces were starting to come looking more like a pile of mushy-strand squash than noodles. You could notice the burnt taste to it but it was still edible . I was so grateful that there’s no one else here tonight other than my family that I had to feed.…

Most of us have a certain type of favorite dish, but my favorite dish is seared steak with a garlic glaze. I love this dish because it reminds of that time my cousin told me about it and described it. Ever since he told me I always wanted it to try it. I couldn’t try the dish because he didn’t know the name of it and so I couldn’t try it out in some other restaurant or make it myself. The only way I had to try it was to go where he lives and he lives out of state, I had to wait a few months to taste it. That made me want to try it even more.…

When I four, my step—dad, my mother, my sister, and I moved into my favorite place ever. This was the most beautiful place I've ever been to. It was a, little fifty person campsite. This campsite was located in, Moses Lake with, huge, clear, blue, clean, and extravagant lakes surrounding it. Every lake had, great reflections of yellow sky in the morning, soothing reflections of white and blue moonlight in the evening, and nice little chirps of crickets to put you to sleep.…
