Personal Narrative: Refining Solutions
Refining Solutions

The final step used in creative problem solving is refining solutions. According to Vincent R. Ruggiero, the three steps to follow are to work out details by determining exactly how solutions will be applied. The next step is to examine each detail for imperfections, and the last step is to make any improvements that will eliminate the imperfections. When the thinker reaches a solution to a problem, and has worked through the deficiencies, the creative thinker must work through any issues to find how the solution affects others.
The original issue was having a flat tire and not being able to change the flat tire. Without proper tools and without proper knowledge I was stranded on the side of the road wondering what I

I immediately went negative in my mind; even though I knew positivity would get allow me to reach a solution faster. I had an immediate challenge of changing my mindset from thinking how many people stuck on the side of the road are hit by passing vehicles to what steps I would take to avoid being a statistic.
My first step was to evaluate my surroundings. Although I was in a familiar city I was not near any one that I knew. At the current time I was traveling down the road with my son in the back seat. I used my cell phone to call a friend and ask advice. In the moment, a simple issue as a flat tire became a complex issue with the uncertainty of how to efficiently solve the problem and get back on the road. I had the option of calling for roadside assistance through my insurance company, but how long would I be on the side of the road waiting for a truck to come

With much thought I decided the best way to get my son and me off of the side of the road and in to a shop where my car would be worked on was to ask the construction workers for help. I stepped out of my car and waved the men over and asked if anyone knew how to fix a flat tire. To my amazement not only did all of them know how to fix a flat but everyone was willing to help. It turns out they were just waiting on my initial request before they approached. The men were able to get my flat changed to a spare without asking for anything in

Traveling into the Indian Territory, we were being angrily chased down by three Indians furiously shouting at us. Dashing through the thick forest, the savage Indians were throwing spears and shooting arrows that narrowly missed us. Although neither Gideon nor I was mortally injured, I did suffer from a nick from an arrow piercing near my ear. Thankfully, a group of burly fur traders approached from the side, which frightened the Indians to run away. Acknowledging that Gideon and I were inexperienced travelers in the west, they offered us protection in exchange for some valuable possessions. As a consequence, knowing that they were our best alternative for survival, we gave them our antique gold pocket watches and assumed the identities of novice fur traders. From that point on, we followed them through the west and adopted their skills for efficiently hunting animals and keeping warm in the harsh, cold weather. During one of our rest points, we approached a large Cherokee settlement located in Park Hill in which our group leader was friends with the Cherokee leader John Ross.…

In chapter 12, the key event to me was when Claudia and Finn talked to each other through the keys. I felt many emotions when reading their interaction one of them being happy. I felt happy when they talked to each other because it was a turning point in the story in my opinion. I also felt surprised because at first, I thought by having two keys, there would be a lock that would need both keys to hear and speak to each other. I also felt confused by the way they conversed; How could they now hear each other but not before. I think by having one key being touched, the other key can hear because on page 153 Claudia says she breathed and rubbed on the key making it warm and on page 154 Finn says when he touches the key it's warm.I like the way the author wrote the scene from both perspectives, it gave us the readers a clearer understanding of how both Finn and Claudia felt. I also like how the author described the way both keys affect each other and have a "key" connection.…

My mother has been through pretty much everything a person can go through outside of war and was still able to be there and provide for all 6 of her kids. In high school, my mother wanted to play football and couldn't because she was a girl and back-in-the-day women were not allowed to play football with the guys. However, she remained strong by raising 6 kids and independently took care of all of us on her own. My mother has several qualities that I would love to develop. The first quality she has is balance; she certainly knows how to make…

While operating a motorcycle one warm early summer evening I was involved in a traffic collision with a local elderly couple driving an earlier model 1970’s Cadillac. Not only was this Cadillac very large it was also very heavy. The gentleman that was driving was not paying very close attention as he continued straight through the very busy intersection from a left only turn lane. As I approached the intersection from the opposite direction I became aware that this monstrous chuck, of fast moving steel, was not turning nor was it slowing down. I decided it was best to smash on my breaks and discontinue my left hand turn attempt. This I believe is what saved my life that night. My bike straightened…

My friends and I were out riding around trying to decide if we wanted to go to Carowinds. I was driving too fast and jerking the wheel back and forth. I lost control of the car. The car ran off the edge of the road, and I hit a ditch damaging the left side of the car. The car then spun around and the right side of the car hit the ditch. The airbags popped out and hit me in the face. After we stopped spinning I asked my friends if they were ok. Fortunately, none of us got hurt. I had to call my parents and tell them that I wrecked the car. The police came and gave me a ticket and showed me at fault in the wreck. The wrecker picked up the car and took it to the body shop. The insurance adjuster looked at the car and said it was totaled. I had to wait a long time before my parents would even consider getting me another car. I had to go back to waiting for someone to pick me or asking somebody else for a ride. Although wrecking my car will always be an unpleasant memory of my first car, it taught me a valuable lesson about driving safely.…
