Personal Narrative On Vacation In Orlando, Florida
When I was twelve, my family and I went on vacation to Orlando, Florida. The main place we went to was Discovery Cove and we were going to swim with ocean creatures! I was so stoked to go swim with marine animals and couldn’t wait to feel the soft skin of a bottlenose dolphin on the palm of my hand. My mom was obsessed with dolphins two years ago. I’m not kidding. She had little dolphin statues in our living room for decorations and has a dolphin tattoo on her ankle. I was almost as excited as my mom but she was waiting to do this her whole life. I only wanted to do this for about a month before the trip. I think she wanted to swim with dolphins quite a bit more than me.
As we arrived at the park, we suited up in the fancy wetsuits and walked

The feel of 80 degree temperature, the sound of splashing water, and a super long car ride? Everything but the car ride was awesome! On my spring break this year we took a very long and boring car trip down to Arizona. It was a 18+ hour car trip just going there! I mostly slept and read the way there. First, we visited Arizona state and Arizona University. Then, we stayed at my Grandma and Grandpa’s house. But, what I mostly liked about my spring break was in Arizona there was 80-90 degree temperatures!…

As I grew older, my interest in marine life also grew. While normal first graders were reading about princesses, I was reading about sharks or dolphins. My nose was always in a new book with some type of marine animal. For Christmas I was always asking for something to do with fish. I remember one day my grandma bought me a little stuffed hammerhead shark. I carried that…

My dad was the person that named me Brian. Knowing him, I was pretty lucky to get a normal name. I’m surprised that it wasn’t something strange or funny-sounding. My siblings have pretty normal names too. My brother is William and my sister is Jennifer. My middle name is Robert. It was given to me because it is my father’s name, and his middle name is his father’s name, and so on. I guess my parents wanted to keep the tradition. My last name is Guedes. It has run in the family for as long as I can remember. My last name is Cuban, just like everyone in my family. My parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, ect. are all fully Cuban and I’m proud of that.…

One morning a long time ago, my mom woke me up early. “It’s time to go,” she said. Go, go where I asked? “Today, we are moving to Florida,” she said. My big brown eyes began to fill up with hot salty tears. I don’t want to go, I said over and over again. You and your sibling are going to be moving to Florida with me. Again, I cried aloud, I don’t want to go. Who will take care of me? Where will I sleep? And what will I eat and drink? Consequently, all of my pleas for mercy to reside longer with my daddy was ignored, and apparently fell on deaf ears.…

When I walked in the doors of our house, I looked to the left where our couch was and saw my parents sitting facing towards me with nervous faces. I set my bag on the ground next to the door, and I set my shoes next to my bag. I slowly turned around and walked towards the couch, hesitant to take a step forward. Part of me considered bolting--running for the door. Their faces were plastered with anxiety, and I tried to think of what I had done. Nothing clear came to mind. Once I finally sat down, I looked at my parents and said, “What's wrong?”…

When I was in the sixth grade, my parents took me to Sea World to see dolphins because they had always been my favorite animals. I saw the dolphins perform in the show “Blue Horizons”. I remember thinking that the show was amazing, and I became even more interested in dolphins. Being so up close to the dolphins at Sea World was better than I ever imagined. This experience was very exciting to me because I had always dreamt of what it would be like to interact with a dolphin. This experience made me become even more infatuated with dolphins, so when I got back from Florida I decided to do some research on them. When I researched how dolphins are trained in captivity, I found the results to be astonishing. I was amazed at how dolphins are not cared for well enough when they are in captivity. Dolphins that perform in shows are especially under-cared for because they are forced to perform every day against their will. I have not seen a dolphin show since I found out how harmful captivity is for them. People need to be aware of the…
