Personal Narrative: My Trip To Washington D. C.
This summer, I had the opportunity to go to Washington D.C. and New York with the music, speech, and drama kids. In order to go, you had to be in at least four activities related to band or speech. I was involved in band, the play, large group speech, and individual speech. After a long and dreadful sophomore year, I finally made it. I had a fun summer and the twilight of it was the trip, and it was quite satisfying. We got up early and left on a bus from George to Sioux Falls in the early morning. I was a little nervous because I have never flown on a plane before. Right before I got on the plane, someone told me to chew gum or my ears will pop, but I did not have any gum. So luckily, my cousin Ashley gave me some mint gum. I do not like …show more content…
The first famous thing we saw was the Pentagon 9/11 Memorial, it made me feel surreal, similar to I was here and it did not feel real. Afterwards, we went to a restaurant in D.C.’s mall. It had a lot of hype but the food was okay, but not the best. To end the night, we went to our hotel to sleep. My roommates were Dhalten and Ethan. It was an eventful day. On day two, we woke up and ate breakfast at the hotel. The breakfast was not that good but that was okay because we saw a lot of events that day. That day, we spent most of the day at Mount Vernon. We saw what the people did right when they got to America and it was interesting. Later that day, we stopped by the White House. It was a good experience, seeing where the leader of our country lives. That was a fun full day of Washington D.C. On day three, it was my birthday, so the night before, I got to sleep on my own bed. When we got to breakfast, I got a song sung to me. After the morning, we visited Arlington National Cemetery to see where John F. Kennedy was buried and also to see the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers. Our last stop at D.C. was the Capitol and it wasneat. Afterwards, we took off for New York. I fell asleep right away and woke up just in time to see the skyline and it was beautiful. When we got to the hotel, we went to bed right away because we had a big day ahead of

It was going to be a short ride only about 4 hours altogether through the South Dakota mountains. About an hour into our ride, we reached the mountains and as soon as we did Brody, Eli, Maddy, and I rode our horses to the top of the mountains. When we reached the top of the mountains we got off our horses and looked out over the South Dakota scenery, it was a beautiful view. I have never seen a better view in my life. You could see so far since we were up so high in the air and when we looked down at Tommy and Cassie they looked like ants. After we took a few pictures we headed back down to Tommy and Cassie. We went a little further after we got down from the mountain and then we turned back and headed towards camp. We arrived back at camp we washed, fed, and watered the horses. When we were done with that stuff we made a fire and started carving on sticks for a competition we were having and then at about 11 we went to…

The best trip I have ever went on was when my family and I went to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. My aunt was getting married and my mom’s side of the family was invited to come. We got to go on this vacation last February. We left very early one morning and we went to the airport. It was very cold and the air was very dry. We got to the airport in Sioux Falls and we went through security and waited to get on the plane. Once we finally got on the plane I was very excited to get there. We had a connection in Minneapolis and we had a direct flight from Minneapolis all the way to Punta Cana. Once we finally got to Punta Cana, we were getting off the plane and I could feel the humid, warm air. We had to wait in a very long line to go through customs. After that, we got on a taxi that took us to our resort. The roads in the Dominican Republic are not much different from the roads in the U.S. They still had stop lights, billboards, and the same traffic rules. One big difference we saw on the way to the…

I walked into the doors of Statehouse Expo Center, my feet walking with the sound of my bag rolling over the little cracks on the light floor tile, my white uniform as crisp as a fall breeze. With every step further, I could see more people. Lots more people. The mats filled with people. People who spend their whole lives working to be where they are, on those mats. Sparring, combat, weapons and forms. XMA in one corner, Black Belts in another corner, everyone else in a corner and staging in a corner. All surrounded by a Sr. Master or the occasional Master. When we get to a tournament, our team always meets up. Then all the kids go explore. We found our team and all the kids put away their IPads and Kindle Fires.…

In eighth grade, the 2018 graduates including me visited Washington D.C. After months of preparing we finally landed in the Capitol. Truth be told I wasn’t in a really great mood, before I leaving I had an allergic reaction to a spray of Axe. Many events happened during the trip, but the most memorable event was viewing the Vietnam Memorial. The two 250 feet long obsidian colored walls stood at eight inches and met at at their highest point 10 feet.…

Last year, I was one of three high school Juniors chosen by my local electric cooperative to join students from across Arkansas in a trip to Washington D.C. During this trip, our group visited all the usual tourist spots in Washington: the Capitol Building, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Smithsonian among others. But of the sites we visited, the ones that affected me most were the places related to President Thomas Jefferson. Previous to this trip, I knew very little about Jefferson, and even wondered what he did to deserve a place on Mount Rushmore. However, this trip exposed me to Jefferson in an entirely new way. We visited Monticello, his home in Virginia, where I learned about Jefferson’s broad interests in science, architecture, and philosophy,…

If I had harnessed the ability to travel through time, I would choose to experience 1960’s Washington D.C.. The city was struck with such large amounts of heartbreak, but at the same time, many people had more courage than they’ve ever had. I would spend the first couple of hours exploring the riots on the roads, the segregation present in the shops, and just how people felt in this time.…

Sightseeing in Washington was crazy. Seeing monuments, memorials, and museums in real life is unbelievable and emotional. Let me start off with my mother's journey to America. It was 1985 when her parents decided it was time for a fresh start. It was very difficult to come to America legally, so they made their journey by traveling to other countries. They left Cuba and traveled to Spain where my grandfather found a job as a farmer. They lived in Spain for almost 2 years before they gathered enough resources to travel to Mexico. The journey from Mexico to the USA was very easy for them because they had a family member who knew their way around. They struggled for many years in America but soon became legal citizens. My mother later on went to college and completed her bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Miami. My grandparents purchased the…
