It was the first day getting ready to go off on our trip , it was a hot summer day and not a cloud in the sky it was as bright as ever, my parents, grandparents, and I were going on a trip from Sioux Falls to Denver and back. We arrived at the airport on time and got on our plane, it was a long trip from Sioux Falls to Las Vegas as soon as we got off the plane we were going to wait for an uber, but then we saw that you could get a limo so we did that instead. We had a great time back there. We stopped by the gas stop to get some things my grandma tried to get out of the limo but the driver started to back up and she slammed the door shut. Later when we stopped the limo driver explained to my grandma,”You never open the door I open it for you.” …show more content…
We were all on a train heading from Colorado to Omaha where we would drive the rest of the way home after coming back from our short vacation in the summer. As everything was quieting down my family and I didn’t notice and we were as loud as ever. Then an old lady behind us had enough of my grandma she shot up out of her chair with anger and told my grandma in an angry tone of voice to quiet down that she was trying to read her book. My grandma sassed her back the old lady sat down. In the past I have seen my grandma do some crazy things but not a lot of them compare to this. As she sat down my grandma was whispering,”I’m gonna look at her.” I almost bursted out laughing of what happened next. What my mom did was constantly whispering,”Don’t look at her.” But my grandma didn’t care she was slowly some water bottles so we wouldn’t get dehydrated. But overall it was a fun trip and what made it better is when my grandma in the bathroom found some “sunglasses.” These were prescribed nobody claimed them so she took them, but she didn’t know they were prescribed! She came out yelling,”Cindy look at these sunglasses that I found in the bathroom!” When my mom put them on she made a face that looked like she just sucked on a lemon and instantly took them

Our whole wagon train met at the front entrance and we left Fort Kearney together. It was a nice stay, but we had to keep moving. As we were traveling on the trail, we were stopped by the South Platte River. We need to cross the river in order to follow a stream that heads to the North. We check if there were bridges around the place since the water was shallow, but we saw no bridge. We decided to use the sand bar we saw so we can get across the river. As we crossed the river, Michael almost fell off the sand bar with his 13 year old son. Luckily Curtis pulled him up and we were successfully able to cross the river.…

It had been such a long and hard journey. The long walks and difficult terrain, the materials and luggage we had to carry seemed to weigh tons and the sweltering of summer and bitterness of winter was almost unbearable. Not to mention how precarious the whole trip was, one wrong step and we were goners, especially by the natives. We ran into some Mandan Indians and they refereed to us as the pretty people, which I mean, who am I to complain? But not all encounters with the natives were good, we had an especially frightening run in with the Teton Sioux Indians. We were just passing through the river and they cornered us! Luckily their chief called them off and we were on our way. We’re coming back home and all so obviously the journey was a…

“And on your left you’ll see one of the tallest waterfalls in the world” the train conductor announced. Everyone shuffled for their camera to capture the moment. As the scene came into view the cog train was filled with the sound of a disappointed gasp, followed by glances to the vested instructor that read ‘are you kidding me’. The “waterfall” looked more like a miniscule stream than a massive landmark he told us it would be. Because we were near the top of Pike’s Peak, he wasn’t completely wrong. We were expecting something the size of Niagara Falls.…

Hey guys! Today I went on a crazy adventure to somewhere I have never been before! I flowed down a cascade mountain range and into the amazing and beautiful Columbia river. My friends I met in the mountains and are now headed to the mouth/ delta of the river the Pacific ocean where we will hopefully be evaporated again. We just exited the headwaters and will be entering some tributaries along our journey. Although, this river doesn’t have many dangers I am concerned of entering a creek because I like going straight to the ocean to be evaporated again because water droplets like me love to travel! This has been a pretty easy journey so far but I have got to say I have been a bit chilly. The weather down here has been around 25-30 degrees so that…

The holiday season, a time meant for the celebration of chilly weather and cheerful greetings, is perhaps the most celebrated time in America. Each year, millions of high school students embrace the promises of the holidays as an opportunity for rest, relaxation, and freedom from the confines of scholarly pursuit. I, being one of many students weighed down by the stress of finals and academia, eagerly anticipated my holiday break that would begin the second week of December. For weeks, I planned out what I would do with my abundance of free time so that I would enjoy each day to the maximum capacity. I resolved to travel to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, where I would experience the scenic snow-capped mountains, bustling village towns, and adventurous…

This summer I had the opportunity to visit New York City and was able to tour campus. As soon as I stepped foot on the grounds I felt at home. The quiet campus seemed like a great escape from the bustling city. All of the students I met seemed very welcoming and willing to help out new students. I've grown up in Oklahoma City and realize that moving to New York will be a big adjustment. Barnard provides the support I will need to become comfortable in this new environment. I also value how hard Barnard works to support all the women that attend. The opportunities and doors they have opened for all graduates is inspirational. I want to attend a college that is dedicated to their students. A college where women support each other instead of tearing…
