This summer I traveled to Gulf Shores. My sister had a cold so I worried. The car did not work so I asked my dad a question and he answered it. My aunt was there and we chopped stuff up. My dad had planed on us going to the beach but the rain interfered with us going. My sister had a microscope and we magnified a ant. I qualified for a volleyball game at the beach. I got hit in the nose and my mom panicked. My sister got sting by a jellyfish. I had entered the volleyball game because we had nothing to do.We had to go home because my dad had to go to work the next day. Me and my family had fun but it was time to leave and when we came home i went to my friends house. We went back to the beach and got a baby turtle. We went on the boat 2

It was summer time and I was wearing my West Scranton football shorts and shirt, it was a normal day in the summer I was sitting in my living room with the air conditioner turned all the way down to 60 to get a cool breeze. I was watching Iron man but I really was not that into I kept drifting off and thinking what I should do with my day. My older brothers Shawn and Anthony came to the door around 2 in the afternoon and asked me if I wanted to go swimming. I quickly galloped up the stairs and asked my mother if I could go, she said yeah just be safe. So we left and went to a place called the “Rez” it was a place where high school and college kids go to jump off rocks and have a good time, it was a nice area surrounded by…

Growing up my dad and his two sisters were always vocal about how they grew up in a poor household. My grandpa maintained a steady income that was only enough to pay bills and put food on the table. My granny was a stay at home mom that would pick up jobs here and there being a maid. So, there money was very tight and vacationing was out of the question. One day my grandpa decides that he wants to walk on sandy beach barefoot and pick up pretty seashells. So, he packed up his family and drove from Dallas to Galveston with only the rent money in his pocket. And from there the Lacy’s summer vacation to Galveston has been in full effect. I am twenty-two years old and for as long as I can remember, all my summer memories are from Galveston Island.…

I never realized how lucky I was to be granted such a stupendous life until I saw the poverty some people live in. Over the summer, I was fortunate enough to be able to take an ephemeral trip to Nassau, Bahamas. It was much different than I imagined it would be. I remember walking around and almost being frighten to leave my parents sides. There were natives on every street corner trying to con their way into you spending money on their fake product; there were people going through the trash looking for food; there were people sitting on the street with all their belongings tied up to their bicycle street. You could just tell this country was nowhere near as advanced as the United States. It was nothing like the pictures and it got me thinking of the gloomy lives these children will have to grow up in and all the opportunities that they don't have available here.…

I have lived all my life in sunny Florida. I have always been a little different. While most of my friends were playing basketball or baseball I was tinkering with electronics and repairing or improving any item that came my way. I learned a lot from my older brother, who taught me everything I know about computers and technology. When I was a sophomore in high school, my brother and I worked together to build my own gaming computer. I have had a passion to learn as much as I can, so that I can be the best that I can possibly be. I was bullied as a child for being different, but I knew that if I pushed on, I could achieve my…

There’s a lot of great things I saw on my trip to Galveston, Texas. My favorite place there was the Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier, while I was there I got on the roller coaster… that was very interesting. There was kids scared to even get on it because a lot of different people were saying things about it. It was “scary” or maybe “you’ll fall off of it”, I was frightened. From far far away you can see the ships when you were around the beach. They looked sketchy, but, whenever I looked at it from far away I thought it was something else. I was on the beach and I was so scared because one of my good friends shot me a text and said:“You realize you’re at a place where there is sharks and a kid died there because of it a few weeks ago”.…

Petersburg, West Virginia is a small town in the eastern panhandle with one stoplight and where everybody has some type of connection or recognition to everybody. I travel to this area at least three times annually for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and Independence Day. Petersburg is not a vacation spot my parents, sister, and I go to on the holidays, it is where my grandparents reside in their beautiful two story brick home they built. I have always enjoyed visiting my grandparents and the time spent together is special. The time spent with my grandma has been particularly special this past year. In September of 2014, my grandma, who I call Grammy, was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer after having a biopsy. Her journey so far has taught me to cherish the memories made and time spent with family.…

On Saturday April 13, 2013 I was walking through the parking garage on the USAA campus in San Antonio, TX to start my 4 hour work shift, I began to go through the turnstile and seemingly startled awake a bat. This bat began to fly and squeal in fear. It darted at my head getting caught in my hair a couple times. I started to scream and flail my arms about trying to fend off the nocturnal flying mammal in fear. During what seemed to be forever I was able to unlock the turnstile and exit the entry way but not before rupturing two discs in my neck. This incident caused quite the turn of events in my life. I had been working for USAA for 3 years and truly loved it there. I also lived in a beautiful apartment with my mother and two children and…
