Personal Narrative: My Murder At Shipwreck Island
You are not going to believe what happened to me on my way to go hunt. The whole problem started when my cruise was passing by Shipwreck Island. I was outside enjoying a cigar in the middle of the night when i suddenly heard a gunshot. Me being curious I decided I wanted to have a better look at where i heard the gunshot come from, I decided to stand on the rail to have a better advantege point. While looking around on top of the rail i dropped my cigar, when i reached for it I leaned to far over the boat and fell into the water. I took off all of my clothes so I wouldn’t get weighed down and drown. I swam toward where I thought I heard the gunshot. I finally found an island when i got to the shore i had to climb up a big pile of sharp rocks. When i reached the top i decided to sleep for the night.

When I woke up in the morning I found a pool of animal blood and a few 22 shells. Since I
Knew there was civilization on the island I decided to walk around the edge of the island when I came across a huge mansion, when I knocked on the door a bigger man held a pistol to my heart, i tried to explain what happened to him but he wasn’t responding. Finally another man

He then told me he wanted to go hunt with me the next day, I refused and told him I wanted to leave the island immediately. He refused the offer and said I would be able to hunt with him tomorrow or he could let Ivan deal with me. I knew I wasn’t going to get off the island without it so I agreed. The next day when I woke up he gave me a hunting knife, boots, and food to last three days. I was confused and asked him what was going on. He told me he always wanted to hunt an expert like me and that I have a few hours to go get a head start on

I knew I needed to figure out what happened and do it fast. I quickly felt my pockets to find my wallet barely intact held by a thread. Salt water felt into my eyes and I went to wipe it away only to see it was blood from a three inch gash on my eyebrow. I looked under a tarp in the dingy and found a wooden box with orange floats attached to it. The latch was corroded from the sea water but it opened up. In the box there were 3 small plastic waterproof containers. On the…

I remember day after day going to swimming lessons in the summer of 2002 at the Mount Vernon pool. Almost every day I walked by the ladder that seemed to go on forever. I used to sit on the pools edge and watch the older kids do flips and other cool tricks off of the high dive. Many times I had gotten half way up the ladder but couldn't bring myself to go all the way up. For a seven year old going off the high dive was like a right of passage and a way to be seen as "cool" in the eyes of the older kids. Today I will be telling you about the first time a braved the high dive.…

There’s no other place in the world where I feel the most at home than being at Long Beach Island. There you can smell the fresh, salty air of the ocean as the warm breeze brushes across your face. It is a place where the sand, sometimes chilled by the water or boiling hot up in the sand dunes, fiddles its way through your toes one by one sending chills down your spine with every step. Off in the distance you can hear the chiming of bells as the ice cream men call children of all ages to cool themselves off with a frozen treat. This is the place that all summer long, I am lucky to call home.…

I was a camp counselor at Camp Wabikon ‒ a co-ed overnight summer camp located in Temagami, Ontario for children who are 6-15 years of age. Along with teaching Red Cross swimming and lifesaving and Tennis, I was my cabin's 'parent' for six weeks. Therefore, I was present with the children at all times. In essence, I was the leader of my cabin's the physical, social and mental development. The main things I learned were the importance of time management and organization , as I had to plan lessons for swimming and Tennis while taking care of my cabin; conflict resolution between campers; and the ability to plan and foresee events (I had to plan camp-wide events and activities for all campers).…

Everyone is dead. It happened in a moment, one small minute has altered my life. I always told myself life isn't fair, it never has been, but this once I ask for a warning or a sign that I would be spending my last day with my family. Everything was fine for a week after the move here, just like the calm before the storm. Now thanks to one drunk driver I'm left on a hospital bed while the nurses play cards. Talk about sympathy. That monster killed Simon. He was just an innocent kid that dreamed of being a scientist, but that dream will die along with many others. My parents, dead, the two people in the world who have loved me with all their heart for 15 long years are dead in seconds. The drunk could have hit any other car destroyed any…

I have a deep interest in the ocean and marine life, which was fostered when my family and I moved to the Pacific Coast. This interest grew further after I went on a backstage tour to the aquarium at the Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo. Due to this continuous exposure to the ocean and the creatures that live there, I am focusing my education around my interest in marine life. It's for this reason that I’m majoring in Marine Biology with a minor in Chemistry. With this education, my goal is to become an Aquarist, and build my way up to becoming an ocean or aquarium diver. As a diver, I want to have the opportunity to study coral reefs, and create and implement conservation plans. In addition, I want to study sea turtles and ways to conserve their declining…

Throughout my life, I have faced a number of crucibles but one, in particular, is more prominent than the rest. About five years ago, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, a traumatic experience that affected my entire family. Each member of my immediate family chose to deal with the news in different ways, however, I am the only one that elected to live in denial. Sadly, the only way I knew how to cope with such devastating news was to continue living my life as if nothing was happening. Denial is simply unsustainable as you cannot escape the memories that the crucible has formed. Nevertheless, years after my mom was originally diagnosed I began to appreciate the experience for what it was rather than shy away from it; developing hardiness.…

About the only good thing that came out of me going to jail was meeting this guy named Lev. He was a skinny guy that did not look like he committed a vicious crime. He didn’t he was in jail for looting a dead German on Voinova Street. He was really rude when I tried to make company, but I could understand why because at times like these you can’t trust anyone. I asked him if he was a Jew and he did not appreciate that, because he thought I looked like a Nazi, but after he found I wasn’t he was ok with the question. I gave him some sausage because I figured he would be hungry. We both were wondering why they didn’t shoot us because that was the punishment for both of our measly little crimes. I started to take notes in my journal on Ushakovo’s…

After around a quarter of an hour I reached my destination, which was a hole in a chimney located in the high walls near Manoel Island` s fort. I fetched the torched from within my back pack and then crawled into the dark hole. After around 2 hours exploring the shelter I came to a spot which was outside of the shelter with steep, high walls on each side. I thought to take advantage of the situation and have lunch. I found a flat platform within the confined area, put on my walkman` s headphones on my ears, and while I listened to its music I prepared and ate lunch. It was to go on with the exploring, therefore I began to put everything back in the back pack. While I was doing so I mistakenly hit my torchlight and it fell in a tight, deep gap between the platform and the wall. I tried to reach it, but it was so tight that I could not reach it. At that moment I panicked because without the torchlight my chances to find my way back in the darkness of the shelter are near zero. Additionally, I could not wait for any help as no one knew of my whereabouts.…
