Failure is the state of not meeting an objective, and is normal for people to face throughout there life. I can speak on experience an event that had happened this past summer. After finals when my school had sent out final report cards, it was sad to see that my final average in my US History course did not meet the requirements to continue to the next grade. From there I had two options: to go to summer school and pass so that I may continue school at the academy or transfer schools and repeat my junior year of high school. With these two options I decided that it would be best to go to summer school and put all I had into the class so that I may pass. Sadly this failure had affected my life more than expected. My APUSH class was perhaps my favorite class my junior year despite it having been so rigorous and time demanding. I really enjoyed the material and although it was a large amount of work that was required, I still never found myself not finishing everything. It is for that reason that I really value this notebook. I did not fail to miss a single day of doing homework in the class and really managed to fit a whole year's worth of vocabulary in one single notebook. I think that to me it really represents the time and work that I put into getting everything done as a mean of getting myself prepared for the AP exam. For school, the thing that has changed was my grades have improved so that I was able to get principal's list. My life has changed because I have found out about my true friends and my “fake” friends. The ones that I know more outside of school are my true friends but the ones that I don’t talk to at all is different. This helped me change the way I look at people and kinda prejudge. On Thursday, September 15 at Cohasset Elementary school in Van Nuys, I worked at my practicum site for the first time in a Head Start class of three and four year olds. My goal for this first class was to become familiar with the children and the classroom routine. One of the first things I noticed was that all the children and the teachers are Hispanic and speak Spanish, although the class is mostly taught in English. I experienced a diversity issue between myself and the staff and children in the classroom. The main barrier I faced was the language. Some of the children spoke only English in class, others spoke a mixture of English and Spanish, and some spoke only in Spanish. Speaking some Spanish helped me, but the children spoke so softly…
When I first arrived to Richmond Early College High School, I anticipated an academic career characterized by hard work, nightly homework assignments, and incredible doses of stress that a middle school classroom could not synthesize. Although I actually landed my first college class in the second semester of my ninth grade year (ACA, which was required for all newbies and taken simultaneously by all 50 of us), I found myself still shaken.
