Personal Narrative: My Ecological Footprint
My Ecological Footprint ended with a couple of facts attached to it. It stated that if everyone lived like I did, we would need 4.6 planet earths to provide all of the resources everyone needed. In order to continue in supporting my lifestyle it takes 2.5 global acres of the earths productive area. Lastly, what I saw on my pie chart was that the services section was the highest one at a 43%, while the rest were between 12% and 16%.
What I feel about these findings is large disappointment. For starters cutting out meat is a hard thing to do. I find that it is especially hard when you are raised in a meat eating family, and still live with them. Growing up meat was the main source of our meal. While I have ventured out and found it possible

Especially if the meat and/or products are shipped in from far away, and tightly packaged. I never really thought that buying and using local product would make that huge of a difference. Nothing specific worked out in my favor. One thing I always do is turn off and unplug all appliances when I leave my room. The fact that I am never home helps keep these items off. Still, my one small step did not make a difference in such a large household.
I found that the quiz wasn’t necessarily all that accurate. I may live at home with a large family but I am hardly a part of this household. I am always away, eating elsewhere, and hardly use any appliances. The footprint asked specifically how many people live in this house, and how much electricity, and gas is used in a months’ time. I can honestly say that I am not the one using up most of these items.
Another side note about the quiz is it asked how much I fly in a year. Well I never really know the answer to this one. While I may go on a trip I do not have the details of hours in flight until the time comes. For example, I hadn’t flown in three years, and then suddenly I was on two 26 hour flights out of the country in one year. So, I left the answer to how much I fly at 0-4 hours a year, and it added to the footprint information that I don’t believe is

Now this is where I`m supposed to write “all about me”. This is where I become lost. I mean, come on. I wouldn`t know where to start. I’m happy with who I am today, just as everyone should be. But if I could change anything about myself, I’d want to have more motivation to do things. In the mornings before school I can barely get out of bed because I’m so tired and don’t want to go to school. I’m exceedingly intelligent but I don’t have any drive. I procrastinate on most of my work, and sometimes I just don’t want to do the work. Right now I’m rank 14 in my class but I could’ve been higher if I had any drive my freshman year. I don’t think about how my decisions now will impact me later and when I do, I don’t really care. I also don’t have much motivation to do things in sports activities. Last year I played volleyball and I never had that much playing time. Never being able…

Most teenagers do not have a clue about what they want to be when they grow up. Most young adults also do not know where their path is in life. Even some full-blown adults are still trying to figure out their purpose. I was lucky. I knew exactly where I belonged from about the time I was seven up until now, at the decently young age of nineteen. I do not see my path changing anytime soon; in fact, I know it will never change. But, I did not just wake up one day as a child and know what my path was, while that would be impressive. Defining moments in one’s life defines who they are. There were lots of things I experienced in my life that made me realize my purpose, my absolute passion. I had four of these defining moments in my short span of…

Change the Story and the Ecological Model Change the Story proposes that individuals can ‘change the story’ where men and women can be treated equally. Through improving access to education, better polices, practices and support, women are more likely to be more respected in society and violence against women can stop. This campaign recognises that working together with communities, workplaces, institutions to ensure that women are more likely to achieve social and financial independence through society having more respect for women (Our Watch, 2016). Therefore, Change the Story is using a multi-dimensional framework to combat violence against women. This is a public health approach that is evidence based that has a strong focus on looking…

By flipping a few more pages, getting closer to the end into my life story novel, you’re probably wondering why I have chosen to talk about my race in correlation with the environment I was raised in. I grew up around a competitive community and even family, at times, probably more competitive than Lebron James and Stephen Curry in the NBA Finals Game 4. You were either an statistic, a number, percentage, smart or dumb. Some people feed off this competitive energy in my city as a way to get revenge towards another but then some people use it to their own advantage to get far in the real world. I knew my district, I knew my ethnicity was low in the district “statistic” and I knew that I could get above ground level of that statistic by working…

I've never been an "outdoors" experience kind of person. Maybe, it's because I'm very sedentary and prefer to stay inside to read and enjoy tranquility. I avoid all types of chaos and crowded places. Nevertheless, my visit to the Camuy River Cave Park (back in 2004) was refreshing and enriching in knowledge, historically, scientifically and spiritually. That experience brought the best out of me, as a human being and a nature lover, by giving the chance of experiencing a whole new level of peace and tranquility.…

I am of Chinese descent and one of the biggest parts of being Chinese is food. Food in China is diverse and unique from region to region. As a result, one’s cooking will often reflect one’s identity. As I learn to cook, I have to choose. Will I favor the Szechuan style, hot, spicy, yet heart-warming? Perhaps I’ll favor the sweet Shanghai style, more delicate, yet more refined. Or, I may go with my parent’s Shandong Style, rich, powerful, and familiar to me. As I learn to cook, I will refine my identity through the dishes I…

One of the worst parts is my mom still needs our other car back in Connecticut, and I haven't drove since it happened.
