Lindsey, I asked him a series of question to find out what makes him a Change Agent, and this is what he had to say. When asked, when thinking back on all your experiences which one made him into the type of leader you are today? He replied, “In the Law Enforcement field, being able to teach people some appropriate things, and wanting to help the community.” Next I asked, how did he discover his purpose in life? His response, “I was asked to draw 3 circles, in those circles write your purpose for life; the first was Fairness, second Family, and the last Law & Order the television show.” Being a well rounded leader such as yourself, what do you perceive as the obstacles and/or challenge you have faced? Learning from mistakes is a key part of life. I myself have had to learn from my mistakes. Over the summer I cut my foot outside. I spent the whole night in the worst hospital, then I got 18 stitches in the bottom of my foot. It also set back my ability to play football. My mistake was going outside without shoes, now I wear my shoes all the time.…

“WHOA WHOA WHOA THIS IS BALONEY MAN!” that is something I say whenever I am frustrated. People have always told me sometimes the best way to learn something is through failure. People value things they have accomplished differently. Often the people whom are naturally adept at things do not realize how much of a struggle it can be for others. Many times when people have told me that if you are going to fall, fall forward. Do not let your insecurities, doubts, and pride get in the way of improving yourself. In brief, there can always be a way to improve yourself.…

Throughout my life I have encountered many circumstances that have shaped me into the person I am today. I was born in Moroleon, Guanajuato, Mexico. I attended school in Mexico all the way to second grade. In the summer of 2006 I moved to Cumming, Georgia. It was the hardest thing to do because I left everything that I care the most about. We lived in a trailer which was not the nicest place and in the middle of the forest. I started school at the beginning of August. I had always loved school so I was so excited for the first day. I knew it was going to be hard because I would have to conquer so many obstacles on the way. At this time the only English I knew was probably counting from one to ten and some of the colors. My Father knew some…

This was an insightful lesson for me. I am motivated by logic, data, and strategy. It was enlightening to understand the concept of getting buy-in by having an emotional connection to an issue. I might otherwise be the person with too many PP slides and still not clearly transmit my message. The See-Feel-Change process, by John Kotter and Dan Cohen makes a clear point. Enabling people to “feel” can ensure the message being communicated is received. I also identify with the statement, “False urgency can be more insidious and more dangerous even than complacency.” Just today, I was hearing a member talk about being constantly busy, and saying there is just not enough time. I think if they were to “Purge the junk”, as Louis Gerstner said, and…

In chapter 12, the key event to me was when Claudia and Finn talked to each other through the keys. I felt many emotions when reading their interaction one of them being happy. I felt happy when they talked to each other because it was a turning point in the story in my opinion. I also felt surprised because at first, I thought by having two keys, there would be a lock that would need both keys to hear and speak to each other. I also felt confused by the way they conversed; How could they now hear each other but not before. I think by having one key being touched, the other key can hear because on page 153 Claudia says she breathed and rubbed on the key making it warm and on page 154 Finn says when he touches the key it's warm.I like the way the author wrote the scene from both perspectives, it gave us the readers a clearer understanding of how both Finn and Claudia felt. I also like how the author described the way both keys affect each other and have a "key" connection.…

A major theme in my life is improvement. I challenge myself to take risks and set high expectations for myself. For instance, I strive to run faster and for longer distances every couple of times I approach the treadmill belt. I am obstinate about my minimum distance, 2.2 miles, and my minimum speed, 6.8. A major component of improving myself is learning. Every new word is a miniscule enhancement of my massive English vocabulary pool, but it is still a step in the right direction. I enjoy becoming more knowledgeable in both domestic and international affairs. I wish I could have more time to pour into reading current event and health articles. I am particularly attached to drumming the latest scientific discovery or innovate biotechnology product…

Drive is something that tons of people have not yet to grasp. The word drive itself is just as powerful as its definition. Having a drive for something means there’s passion in what you’re doing. My drive is to get out of bed every day and be productive. It’s my drive that pushes me to get to work and push myself forward. Having that drive for something isn’t something I would want to let go of either. The problem today is that it’s that it’s hard to have a drive for something since it may take a while to achieve that goal. Sometimes I want to give up just thinking it’s not worth it in the long run, but an underlying drive kicks in that keeps me going.…
