Personal Narrative: My California Reality
My California Reality California is best known as the sunshine state, although most people would disagree with this statement. Most people dream of coming here to visit. I was lucky enough to be born and raised here in California. The beaches and the lakes are just the beginning of California; there are so much other things that California has to offer. For example my home town is known for their many dairies, which produces cheese for a major cheese plant.
There are a couple of things that California did to help my life. The first way was by my high school giving me the opportunity to excel in my favorite sport, swimming. If California started dropping funds for schools I probably wouldn’t have gotten the things I did out of swimming.

Not many people around the world have this opportunity, so I’m going to take it and run with it. With the education I get from California I plan on being a Registered Nurse. This state has so many programs for this career and it’s just a matter of choosing which one I want. When most people think of California they think of Hollywood or sunshine all day and surfing, when in reality California is just like any other state. Yes, we do have our beaches and of course Hollywood stars, but if you look past all of that you see that we do have things just like everyone else. Such as Great food, Beautiful coast lines and beautiful people. One of my friends who lived in Utah told me that she has always wanted to come to California and visit. She never once thought it would be all movie stars and such. She said “It is actually more laid back then Utah is.” “Utah is more conservative, not at all as laid back as California”. She said she enjoyed it here, especially the nice weather. She also said that Utah had many opportunities but she said that California had more opportunities for the education she wanted to pursue. Other than Utah I think that most other states don’t like California much. I’m not exactly sure why but maybe it’s because they think we’re just lazy and surf all day. But that’s not all we do; some people do work for a living and work hard for what they have just like everyone

The city that I come from is not a representation of who I am. Pomona, California is known for it’s high crime rights, and all around gang violence. It is troublesome not to fall through the cracks when the temptation is all around my community. Growing accustom to this environment makes it that much easier to fall a victim into this lifestyle. At the age of 15, for the first time in my life, I experienced a retaliation drive by up the street from where I sleep, the place I call home. That night I heard a total of five gunshots, and was later informed the gun shots left two family friends paralyzed. One is now paralyzed from the neck down, and the other from the waist down. The two victims were sisters, and were not the main target. The shots…

California has been my home for many years and I don’t plan on leaving it anytime soon. Ever since I was little in Pakistan I would always hear stories from relatives who’d lived there on how diverse and beautiful it was. I love nature and greenery, I have relatives who live in New York and when I was there it was really cold and snowing heavily and that’s when I made up my mind that I could never live in a place like this. If I did want to migrate to another part of the United States it would probably be Hawaii, which would be after I’m done with college. There is so much Hawaii has to offer from it’s beautiful weather to its warm beaches. Anyone that’s an adventure seeker or spectator will love Hawaii and its iconic scenery. There many unique…

However, after being apart of a government class that was focused upon learning the fundamental knowledge of America’s past and current federal system, the American Dream is seemingly more difficult to come by nowadays.…

I don’t have small children that I could have taken to the park with the purpose of conducting my observation. The thought of sitting at a park by myself made me a little uneasy and I felt I would look out of place sitting there looking at the children. I conducted my observation in Merced California, at one of the local schools. Every Saturday, soccer games are played at the school drawing large crowds to the games. I sat on the sideline among the spectators and was able to blend in and conduct my observations without raising suspicion. I did not observe the children playing in the soccer games but rather focused my attention on observing children that were not part of any soccer…

California is known for having the best attractions and having the nice weather. According to Jewelle Taylor Gibbs, “Coming to California with its lure of gold, its abundant land, and its balmy climate, has attracted immigration, adventures, and visionaries ever since it was explored by Spanish missionaries in the eighteenth century”(Gibbs86). California is attractive for so many reasons. The climate is really good and California doesn’t have any earthquakes or tornados. It has the best land to grow crops and become a farmer.
