Personal Narrative: Hippopotamus For Christmas
I want a hippopotamus for Christmas

Ever since I was a little girl I always wanted a hippo. I asked my mom every Christmas if she could get one. She always said “ If I had a million dollars, and if it was legal.” Then I would just sigh and move on. But for Christmas she would get me hippo stuff, like hippo clothes, blankets, everything. That is how much I love hippos. Everyone at my school would always say I’m crazy because I loved them so much. Since we were in the sixth grade they thought it was childish, but I thought it was just something that you loved and have good pride in it. It was fun when we had to do a report and something or write a story about something, I would always choose hippos and come up with a different story

Poaching!?” Angie replied “ Yes people are shooting them for their tusk and a bunch of other stuff. And just for the prize of a big hippo.” I was so devastated that this was actually happening. It was closing time for the zoo, but I got to stay after a little bit. I was talking to them. About what was happening and that I just needed someone to talk to. I knew they were listening because they are my best friends. All we needed was some girl hippos, but it was hard to find any because of what is happening. My mom called me and said it’s time to go. I kissed them all goodbye and Blugrea of course didn’t want me to go like always but he managed. Gray always snuggle at me back and being the little one. Blue was too busy eating but he always came away said gave me a goodbye. When I got home I was so tired. So I washed up and went to sleep right …show more content…
So I did some research on them and I found out that there is only 850 hippos in the world. I was so sad that this was actually happening. We just might lose one of the most majestic creatures in the world. I decided to make a website called go fund the hippos. I called Angie and asked her “Can we set up a fundraiser for the hippos at the zoo, to help them and maybe get some more so we can reproduce?” She said “ That is a great idea! How about we get together and have lunch and talk about it?” I replied “ Yea that would be great!” I had my mom ra jn me to steak’n shake because that was our favorite restaurant. I saw Angie and we sat down and started talking about it. She said “That we can publish on our website that we are having a hippo week called save the hippos, and we can talk about them and state some facts about them and have like some showing each day and you can help.” I was so excited for it, I couldn’t wait! When I got home my mom said “What is this thing your teacher told me about? Some kind of writing assignment?” I started to panic I have been to busy with whats going on I totally forgot about my paper and it is due tomorrow. I grabbed my computer and started typing fast. I already had a page I just needed about three more to

For the live theatre show, I decided to watch “A Christmas Story, The Musical” directed by Valerie Easton at Vancouver Arts Club Stanley Industrial Aalliance Stage. The show focuses on a child named Ralphie, who wants a Red Ryder BB Gun for Christmas.Valerie’s production captured the happiness and cheerful atmosphere during Christmas and also focus on emphasizing Ralphie’s desire of a BB Gun as his Christmas present. During the show, I was impressed by many design and technical production elements. For example, the quick changes, the adequate use of theatre stage and also the use of sets to change from fantasy and reality. However, the most striking elements to me are the set piece of Ralphie’s house and the sufficient use of rigging system.…

When I was younger I loved dolls; I loved playing pretend with them, dressing them up, and pretending that they were real. For my younger self to hear of a doll that not only could talk but could move her eyes on mouth on her own was mind blowing. I saw a lot of cheery commercials on television for a doll called Amazing Amanda. It was so cool; the doll even had the same name as me! When I ripped through the colorful Barbie wrapping paper Christmas day and saw that it was the Amazing Amanda doll I jumped around like a grasshopper and raced to go find batteries. I played with that doll everyday, singing songs with her loudly which probably sounded more like off-key screeching. It was incredible to me to watch her glassy, blue eyes blink and…

Today is the day we are starting our trip. We have our wagon train ready to go now it's time to leave this crazy city. I have my oxen pulling my prairie schooner everything is going well until I bump into a fancy Conestoga wagon. The wagon wasn't to badly damaged, there was just a scratch, but the owner made me pay him sixty dollars. I almost knocked him out but I didn't want to start off our journey that way. Our first day we had plenty of problems including the little accident earlier we had to dump some of the tools we doubled up on because of an over load issue. I was mad as the dickens because I was looking forward to using those tools. They costed us a pretty penny as well. We made camp after 25 miles for the day. We made a horse shoe…

A few days after I went home with Phoebe, I ended up getting sick and my parents sent me to a hospital. I was trapped in that hospital for about a month with nothing to really do. You know what was funny though? The days practically flew by, right out of the window. Before I knew it, half a month had passed. I was slowly getting back my strength and everything else as well. I made sure I asked the nurse, who was taking care of me, to bring me malted milk. She was very kind to me, and chatty in a nice, friendly sort of way. It was a nice break from the typical phony people. Speaking of phonies, you should've seen my therapist. He came to me during this one session, started asking me questions in a very posh voice. You know, like he's really…

I was almost labeled a hamster killer. The first pets i got were dwarf hamsters. I went to petsmart with my mom and picked out two hamsters that were supposedly both girls, but one ended up being a boy. One's name was Caesar and the other Felipe. They weren’t always the nicest, but that didn’t make me love them any less. There was this one time that both of my dwarf hamster's got out while i was at school. My mom told me when i got home that she closed the door to my bedroom because they had escaped. I searched everywhere in my room for them. One hamster was under my bed and the other under my sister's bed since we shared a room at the time. Hamsters always find a way to get into the hardest places to find them in. I caught the one under my sisters bed and he was fine. When i went to get the other one out something funny, but sad happened. I have bins with wheels on them that i would roll under my bed and store stuff in. I had to roll the one under my bed out to see where the hamster was because i couldn't find her. So, as im doing this my mom came in the room to see if i had caught them. I was rolling the bin out as i saw something flat squashed on the floor…
