Personal Narrative-Fulfillment: Why Money Doesn T Work
It's all about the money, money, money! Does it sound familiar ? It's from a famous a song. People actually work for reasons not just money, but as well as for honing skills, social interaction, and self fulfillment . The very first reason when I started working was to improve my skills. As a new graduate of nursing, I didn't know how to insert a nasogastric tube for example, even though I read it from the books and our whole class tried inserting it on a mannequin. A living patient reacts differently with the tube being inserted via their nostril. You would never know if they'll gag or follow your coaching and have a smooth insertion of the tube into their stomach for decompression purposes. The second reason is social interaction.

The values that I hold most deeply are friendships, family, and happiness. Values are things that are important in the way I live and work and I believe all of these things play a major role in my life. Since I was a little kid, my values have changed tremendously. Back then, my values would've been playtime, mac & cheese, and chicken nuggets. I believe values mature as you grow and mine definatly did. For example, when I was younger I remember being friends with everyone, but now I only have a select number of friends. This represents values to me. My values inform my actions by them always being my first thought while making a decision. They always play a role in my…

Walking into the locker room about to get ready to go to our last football game of the season. I could smell the sweaty equipment from the kids who never take their pads home. The Hempfield Spartans 7th grade team would be ending their season 0-7 if we didn’t win today. As I was changing into my pads my friend mike walked in the room. I said “you ready for tonight”. “Heck yeah” replied Mike.…

In chapter 12, the key event to me was when Claudia and Finn talked to each other through the keys. I felt many emotions when reading their interaction one of them being happy. I felt happy when they talked to each other because it was a turning point in the story in my opinion. I also felt surprised because at first, I thought by having two keys, there would be a lock that would need both keys to hear and speak to each other. I also felt confused by the way they conversed; How could they now hear each other but not before. I think by having one key being touched, the other key can hear because on page 153 Claudia says she breathed and rubbed on the key making it warm and on page 154 Finn says when he touches the key it's warm.I like the way the author wrote the scene from both perspectives, it gave us the readers a clearer understanding of how both Finn and Claudia felt. I also like how the author described the way both keys affect each other and have a "key" connection.…

Is it sad that when it comes to writing a story all about me. Just one story, nothing comes to mind. This is what happens when you dedicate all your life to go to school and try to be the best you can be. Since I was a little girl all I ever did was think about going to school, getting good grades, and just making sure to be able to make your teachers happy. Especially your parents because if you did otherwise you would end up with a beating. When I got good grades it was mostly just so I would not get grounded. I always lived in a nutshell, I do not even remember if I had any friends. It is such a sad thing to me just to sit here and write. Every one else writes about how they went on a fishing trip or some intresting story. What is my story?…

At times I feel as though I'm trying and failing to be a human being. But what makes us human? I feel although I'm a human-shaped shell made out of pieces of things I find interesting. Instead of a real identity. Just layers of things that I hope will make me different from others. But am I? We rely so much on the opinion of others. But why? Why do we crave acceptance of others? If people were to look closely, they'd notice there really isn't anything there.Just a mess of a person trying to find their ‘place in the world. All we want is to be remembered. Just to prove we are something , we where something. How will I be remembered? Or will I fade into oblivion? Is this the meaning of life? To spend it hoping we have some significance in this…

The important pursuit of financial success is an idea that has been drilled into my head by the adults in my life from early on; my parents struggled in life, and for me they wanted a better, easier, future for me. What I took away from this was that I would not be successful and happy without the money and credentials as well. I could not understand why so many of my classmates wanted to be writers and artists; didn't they too want to be successful? However, the summer before my senior year, I had an idea that would change my thought process forever: a visit to the gateway of success, the Naval Academy.…

Make good decisions. Do the right thing, no matter who is watching. Those words have been repeated and instilled in my mind since I was a young child. My parents always harped on doing the right thing, and making good choices, because some decisions made at an early age can follow you into adulthood. Unfortunately, sometimes making a wrong decision only helps you to learn from the mistake. When I was 15 years old, my friend *Alyssa Brown (Pseudonym) was raped. She was my best friend and someone I care deeply about. We played volleyball together on the same team, had breakfast at the diner every Sunday, and watched movies in my basement every weekend. Like any relationship, we had our differences. At that age, many of my friends were maturing at dissimilar rates, and it was confusing to me some of the changes that were happening to their attitudes and opinions. Alyssa had an older sister *Lindsey, who was 19 at the time, and who wasn’t particularly the best behaved; she had been arrested a few times and needless to say didn’t surround herself with the best company. Alyssa couldn’t help who her sister brought around the house, and neither could I—although now I wish I could have.…
