Personal Narrative Essay: I Shot My Best Friend, Akin '
I shot my best friend, Akin, in my home's kitchen. He was not alone when I shot him; there was a man with, a stranger that shot back in defense. I was hit too, but felt no immediate pain, because was still able to manage a shot at the stranger, before I dropped to the floor with strange heaviness. The man ran towards me as I was falling, my mind told me he was coming to hasten my death, because I was badly wounded already. My neighbors, who accompanied me, were already on the floor. But to my surprise, he jumped over my head as he ran out of the kitchen. On the floor, I khew something like pool were gathering under me, I was struggling to stand up, but it was only in my mind. It seemed like a bad dream as the happening seemed unreal. I wanted …show more content…
I shot him deliberately, with a near perfect aim that took off half of his neck with the bones and all. What I felt afterwards, was a deep regret. Not for killing him, no, it was for loving him as a brother.
The day he died. He came to the house when I was away at the school, left a message with my mother for me, to meet him at his father's farm in the evening. He knew my family needed all the help we could muster, not because he was very close to me, no, it was obvious to the community as well. The ordeal my family was passing through was a common knowledge to all. We were living on the grace of people.
Not everybody was kind to us, but Akin and his family were. They helped a lot. The community helped too, but mostly in the area of security for the nights around my father’s house. The community’s support surprised me, much unexpected. It was contrary to what I knew them for, or what they were, probably both. I knew them as mockers. Mocking my mother, my toddling sisters and my late father (a remarkably fat man) was their hobbies. My family was their usual mockery subjects. So, there was no farfetched reason for me to hate them. It took time before I trust them with my family’s

He worked at a private bottled water company. The company folded, a week after my father's death. Father was found, drowned and bloated in the company's water reservoir after a week. We had searched high and low for him, before we found his body in the water. The community religiously rejected the company's bottled water henceforth. Because a corpse spent a week in their water reservoir. The company's talks and explanations on how sterilization worked had no impact in the community. "They want to be selling us egret's husband fat! I am fat enough!" They were saying. One of my mother’s community given names was egret.
Time of his death was not good for the family, especially for me. At fifteen, I became the head of my family by default.
My parent’s initial plan was to have me as their only child. But, the twins forced their ways into the family when I was already fifteen. Father died same year when the twins were just few weeks

I was playing dodge ball. Usually I'm not very good at it, but one day, I was the last one on the court, and someone threw the ball at me. At that moment, I felt like the end was near. I heard mixed yells from my friends; yells of "Run" and "Catch it!" I almost felt the ball hitting my face as it was coming toward me! I closed my eyes! I heard a loud bang, not unlike a ball hitting someone. First, there was silence, then yells and cheers! I didnt't feel any pain. I realised that since I hadn't felt any pain, I had probably died. Well, I lived a good life. It had seemed that my death had been inevidable to me. I opened my eyes and looked down, expecting to see my body, lying on the floor. but it wasn't. 'That's strange', I thougt, I looked at…

Things aren't always as they seem. My great great great uncle Gutlib, was born sixteen years before the American Civil War was at its height. Gutlib bravely went to fight for the Union. Soon after he went to fight, communication ceased between Gutlib and his family. During the war, the family was unsure whether Gutlib was alive, all they had keeping them going was the hope that he was okay. After the war ended, the family still hadn’t heard from him for weeks, possibly months, and he was presumed dead. His family mourned his death, shocked that he was killed in the war. They held a funeral in his honor and were completely devastated by their loss. The weeks passed and nothing changed. Then one day, while looking over the hill that the family house faced in Pennsylvania,…

I moved from Detroit, MI to Ypsilanti, MI, for a better living. It was December 29, 2008. I had just given birth to my daughter. My daughter was born at 9:45p.m, weighing 5lbs and 3ounces. I named my daughter Saphira Parthenia Franks. Saphira died at 36 weeks, due to still born. The doctor told me” Sometimes this happens without a reason and you will be able to have more children”. I already had my mind made up, that I would wait until I turn thirty to have another baby. I was heartbroken and disgusted with myself. I was already going insane from the deaths of my father in November 2006 and my grandma in July 2008. Therefore, I was not able to cope with their three deaths at once.…

I realized that a lot of families and individuals have experienced even more and unfortunate deaths toward family members, friends, and just loved ones in general. For me writing this essay put me in that same emotional state of mind that I had experienced when both my grandmother and babysitter had passed. That is why today I hold a strong and loving relationship with my family and friends, because when the time comes God is calling one of them home, and that you know, they know, and God knows that you both had a fun ride without any…

It happened on a day like any other, but little did I know while I was sound asleep, that I might never have the chance to see my father ever again. It was around midnight when my father was on his way home on his motorcycle. He was only two blocks away from home when all of a sudden a car illegally ran a stop sign, took a sharp left turn, and caused the monstrous vehicle to collide with my father head on. His body flung over the hood, and he flew onto the side of the road. With no helmet on,…
