Personal Narrative: Dylan Sreshta Changed My Life
The home I grew up in was not a where, but rather a who. The combination of my parents and my younger sister has been with me since my earliest memories. In my house, however, understood affection was the standard, as my parents were often busy. Both of them work in the healthcare fields and as such worked long, irregular hours. This gave me isolation, possibly a dangerous factor to work with. Yet, without that very isolation, I would be missing the most integral part of who Dylan Sreshta is today. Leaving me to my own devices gave me ample time to do anything I wanted to. However, with my seemingly endless energy, I quickly exhausted that path. The only logical thing was to find a new fix; and that is where my story begins. This curiosity to find new ways to keep myself occupied led me through my search for a fix and I stumbled upon books and their vast knowledge bank. Seems like fate had already decided which book I would first pick . I chose a nonfiction book that day, the single, most important moment of my life. And it began my thirst to know everything in life. I burned through the books my parents already had and quickly enough a cycle that rivaled the circadian began. Thus began my movement in high school and undergraduate sciences. As I began to read these chemistry and physics books, I noticed that math played an integral part in many higher order sciences. No longer could I put learning math proficiently off, as it was impeding me. And so I powered through mathematics, learning algebra and calculus just to understand physics and chemistry. Before I knew it, I was in high school. Many of my peers struggled with their workload, but I realized that all I had to do was continue learning the way I always had,
