Personal Narrative: A Career In The Sports Industry
There are many sport professions within the sports industry, but many of these jobs are highly sought after making them competitive in the job market. Working for a professional team has been my dream since the age of 12. Growing up I played almost every sport, so I followed most of the ESPN channels. I got the opportunity of meeting Kelly Baisly, a marketing coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars. In our discussion she was able to lead me in the right course when it came to deciding my career path. Almost everyone I have talked to about getting into the sport industry has said one common thing, and that is, get as much experience as you can. On a typical day to day basis, Kelly will arrive at work at 9am and immediately start brainstorming …show more content…
Kelly also has great leadership skills. During her college education she also managed playing division l women's lacrosse, she was able to gain leadership skills as well as management, which stood out to her boss's. Kelly started of in ticket sales and as she realized her talents were in the marketing genre, she talked to the marketing coordinator, who immediately switched her position. She stated that the Jags really try to use everyone's strengths to their advantage. I learned many different aspects about what Kelly does as an employee for a profession sport team. One of my top request for working in the sport industry is to travel and to do something different at work everyday. Talking to Kelly really made me realize how much I want to work in the sport industry, but more specifically work for the Jacksonville Jaguars. The most important part of this interview project was making a new connection. Kelly would be a great mentor and give good advice on what I should be advancing my skills on.
