My interest in the media world started back when I was in 7th grade. This spark first began in photography and has done nothing but grown since then. As I grew older this curiosity went from photography to television. The particular aspect of this field that draws my attention is the world of producing. Although I do not have any prior experience with producing, I know that an internship with WVUA 23 would be the perfect first step in one day becoming a producer. I learn very quickly and I will not stop something until it is completed in a proper manner. I am very eager to learn everything I can about producing and I know I will be able to do so through this internship. I enjoy working in a team-oriented setting where there is one common goal, as I am able to get along with all different types of people. I do not feel that any job is beneath me, and I am willing to do whatever possible in order to gain knowledge in…

On November 20th, I attended Awesome Tapes from Africa at BAM Cafe in Brooklyn, NY. When I first arrived, the DJ, Brian Shimkovitz, hadn’t started his set yet so they were just playing regular music to pass the time. But I was shocked to see so many people had showed up just to see him. This was the first time I’ve heard of him and I was excited to see what he was going to play. As I was waiting for the show to start, I was expecting to see him walk in with guards or as soon as he walked in for everyone to ask for an autograph but I noticed that he was just walking around like he was also waiting for the show to start. He walked past me a couple times before I actually noticed and recognized him. From what I gathered from the BAM Cafe and…

I recall being asked by my relatives: “What do you want to be when you grow up?” and instead of an answer I would give them a blank stare. I had no idea how to respond. Not because there was nothing I found appealing, but because I felt passionate about too many things. I loved music, math, design, helping others, working with kids, analyzing situations and solving problems. There were to many career paths that I liked, but it always seemed to me that in order to follow one I would have to give up the rest.…

When asked in class every year which subject I admired the most, my answer was always “none”. Although the grades in my core curriculum classes were always excellent, I never found interest in the basic subjects. Math was a bunch of numbers with letters, science just reviewed our bodies and the how the world was believed to be through one scientist theories and history repeated itself, constantly. As a freshman, I contemplated tremendously over what major and career I would pursue for the rest of my life. I never knew there were more subjects than just science, English, math and history until the day my mother introduced me to unraveling my creativity in the summer.…

My main goal is to go to college. I am looking at a degree in forestry. My next goal is to find a job in the career field of my choice. To do this I need to make sure that when I am in college, I am putting forth my best effort in my classes and networking with people in the field. These goals have to be reached for me to do well out in the real world. High school may seem like it doesn’t matter, but it does because in the end without high school, I wouldn’t be able to go on to college and then on to a job that I love to do and work. To make my family proud I want to graduate and go onto college, get my degree, and finally make a living in my career field choice.…

Daniel Ruyts deserves employer of the year because of how awesome he is and how he makes work. Daniel is nice, helpful, friendly, funny, great leadership, and he isn’t strict but makes sure everyone’s completing their job. Daniel has influenced me on several things. He taught me to treat others how I want to be treated. Think before I act. Make sure I finish what I started. All of those revolve around work someway somehow whether I’m dealing with customers or co-workers. Another tip he told me was, if I need to get out of work early and were slow, to make sure everything is perfect and go ask if I can leave. On the other hand Daniel has made the store much better than how it used to be!…
