Introduction
The book “Connect the Dots” tells the stories of 20 regular people who became entrepreneurs and made a go of it. Connect the Dots makes it a point to focus on entrepreneurs who did not have a formal management education. The message to young readers is clear — you don’t need to be from an IIM to build a successful company.Reading the story of Prem Ganapathy of Dosa Plaza, I could not help believing that India is a meritocracy or at least the land of opportunity for any enterprising person who is willing to work hard. While some of the entrepreneurs the author has chosen to cover in her book are from privileged backgrounds, many are not. Some haven’t even done college, forget about an MBA.
There is nothing more inspiring than the story of a boy born on the wrong side of the tracks making it big against all odds.
STORY OF RAGS TO RICHES

Coming from a poor background, in Tamil Nadu’s Tuticorin district, Prem Ganapathy had no choice but to abandon his dreams for higher studies, in order to support his family and siblings. After Ganapathy completed his tenth standard, he did not want to study further. Ganapathy said “My teacher told me that I should continue studying but I told her frankly that I do not want to study. We had lot of financial problems so I wanted to work and earn money, help my family. Even getting water and firewood was an arduous task. We had to walk miles to get water and firewood,”. His father had a tobacco business which ended in a loss. He also incurred huge losses in the farm. With seven children, his parents struggled to make ends meet.
He first started out doing odd jobs in Chennai, which fetched Rs 250 a month. He met a young boy who promised him a good job in Mumbai. He said that if prem paid him Rs 200, he would get job

The best sight to me is to stroll into the kitchen and see my short living great-grandma struggling to reach the vanilla on the top shelf. With an inconvenience like that she will always find a way to manoeuver around it and continue on making her exquisite homemade vanilla ice cream. It's a good thing that she only makes this ice cream for special occasions, or else every one in our family would be tubby like her. Tubby is not a bad quality for a grandma though, because grandmas are suppose to be cuddly and comfortable to lay with. In addition to making the world's best homemade ice cream, she is the most loving and warm hearted person I know, and that is why I love her and look up to her so much.…

A huge influence on my life has always been music in general, but some artist have has colossal impacts on my life and one of my biggest role models has been Dan “Soupy” Campbell. Dan Campbell is the lead singer of The Wonder Years and his songs and lyrics are about finding out who you want to be while growing up, finding a place of belonging and keeping a positive attitude even when things seem substandard. His songs seem to continuously help me out from day to day. Everyone tries to find somewhere where they’ll fit in, feel like a part of something, and knowing that someone is able to put those types of emotions into lyrics not only helps me out but also the thousand of kids like who listen to them. Music and songs like these like these to me have a way of helping you get through some of the most distressing days and just gives you something to relay on. A lot of his lyrics are about being happy and knowing that even the most unpleasant things come to an end, having such an optimistic look on life like that is something I try to carry on in my life. His positive character and always stay true to yourself attitude is something I admire because not many people keep these attribute growing up let alone when they become famous. Dan Campbell will always have a monumental influence on my life through his music and lyrics and the significant role model he is for me.…
