The Persian gulf war was a political and economic war.
Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait in search for political and economic power and control.
If Hussein seized gulf nations and Saudi Arabia after Kuwait, he’d control more than one half of the world’s oil reserves. This would’ve changed the tides of the world as we know it, because he’d build his army extremely strong and he’d have tons of political power. The US and the UN got involved because Saddam was trying to launch missiles at Israel, but the US and the UN pledged to protect Israel.
