When people ask me who my role model is I instantly think of my dad. In my opinion, nobody can compare to my father. While he was fighting cancer, I told myself, “There is no way he is losing this battle, he is too strong.” People constantly told me to expect the worse, however, I knew that he would pull through and beat cancer. My dad had always been there for me while I was growing up, at that moment I knew it was my turn to be there for him.
Perseverance is by far one of my dad’s most admirable qualities. My dad has gone through multiple ups and downs during his life, and he treated cancer as just another curve ball life threw at him. He understood that cancer wasn’t just affecting him, it was affecting my whole family. I always thought of my dad while he was going through treatment, and he was aware of that. Therefore, while I was way at boarding school he called me every night. He always wanted the conversation to be focused on me, he didn’t want me to worry about him. I cannot remember one moment during my father’s fight with cancer where he showed weakness in front of me, he always persevered through the pain and
