12/4/15 The Story of Perseus Although, Perseus seems like he had a perfect childhood in Olympus, he had the exact opposite. Perseus is a Greek hero. His father was Zeus, his mother was a beautiful princess named Danae. Danae was born from King Acrisius. King Acrisius wanted a boy to carry on his reign. So he went to the Oracle, the Oracle said he would never have a boy but his daughter would. The Oracle also said this child would be the death of him. So the king, not knowing what to do locked his own daughter in the dungeon. His daughter prayed to Zeus to help her and Zeus being who he is, instead of seeing a mourning girl he saw a beautiful girl. He could not think …show more content…
He ordered everyone to bring a gift. Being so poor, Perseus and his mother could not. Polydectes pretended to have a very heated argument with peruses. After their argument the king threatened peruses’ mother. Perseus being loving and brave, agreed to bring the king anything he wanted. The king knowing that the journey to Medusa's lair was long and dangerous asked for Medusa's head. Perseus not knowing what else to do set off on this journey. (www.greekmythology.com/myths/heroes/Perseus/perceus.HTML) paragraph 4-5) Perseus knew he could not kill Medusa by himself. So he made a plan to go and ask mythological being for help. Knowing that Athena was an expert of crafts, he went to her for answers. She did not only give Perseus answers but she also gave him a reflecting shield. He was off to the next place, where the nymphs lived. The nymphs gave him winged shoes for a quick escape. He then traveled to Hermes. (Hermes, delivers messages to and from all the Gods). Hermes, gave Perseus the Sword of Adamant. Hermes also gave Perseus a helmet of …show more content…
Since he got flying shoes he is associated with Hermes the messenger of all the Gods. He is also associated with bravery, heroism, and strategy. These things are found when peruses slices off Medusa's head.
He is also considered to be associated with the Pegasus and flying. This is because of his flying shoes. Perseus is a hero and there are many things that resemble them. Peruses was a good person. Although he was a great man, with a great story, he is sometimes seemed as a little bad. He killed Medusa and the mythical creature the Kraken but sometimes he does not seem like the best guy. In fact he murdered more than Medusa. He is found walking through town with her head in hand. He seems to be a bad person in this part of the story. This does put a bit of a stain on his perfect life. This is why he is associated with chaos, death, and pain. Everyone makes mistakes and when everyday people make mistakes , it does not matter, but since it is a Greek hero it seems very
