Perrault's Master Cat: Puss In Boots
In contrast to, “Master Cat: Puss in Boots”, the cat is only helping his master so he does not get killed. Whenever his master first receives him, he is disappointed that he only got a cat. His master was thinking that he could only, “..Eaten the cat and make a muff from its skin..” (Perrault 46). The cat did not want to be killed, so he helped his master to gain riches and power by tricking the monarch. His master was now going to marry the princess and become part of the monarch, and have all the riches in the land of France. The cat did not have to hunt for rats or mice anymore. The cat has now become, “a great lord” (Perrault 50). The cat does not have to worry about being killed or skinned by his master. The cat uses trickery of others

Puss in Boots is about a very intelligent, lying, thieving cat. The archetype most related to this character would be The Jester. The Jester mischievously takes advantage of people, by conning them to get what he wants. In the episode the cat had tricked the King’s guards into letting him speak to the King, by telling them he had a special delivery for the King. After the guards threw the cats sack over the bridge, they worried about the cat’s threats that the King would punish them for what they’ve done, so they let him through. The cat’s Jester personality is a replicated archetype trait because it has been repeated many times before with characters in many other shows like, Tom and Jerry and Robin Hood. Puss in Boots is also considered “the…

Just like how books written today reflect our modern day cultures and mindsets, trickster tales emulate the culture of the society they originated in. These stories often teach a lesson, showing the ideals of the society through the moral the story presents to the reader. Although the trickster tales “How Stories Came to Earth,” “Coyote Steals Fire,” and “Master Cat: Puss in Boots” come from three very different parts of the world and cultures, they have similarities as well as differences. While all three stories, “How Stories Came to Earth” retold by Kaleki, “Coyote Steals Fire” retold by Richard Erdoes and Alfonso Ortiz, and “Master Cat: Puss in Boots” by Charles Perrault include anthropomorphism and the use of deception by the tricksters to achieve their…

ESSAY TOPIC The United States of America was religiously diverse at its founding. Its population included numerous Protestant groups, small Catholic and Jewish populations, those who practiced traditional Native American religions as well as those who practiced African religions. The United States has become even more religiously diverse, yet Christianity has remained the majority faith tradition since the country’s beginnings. Today, some Americans assert that the country was founded as a “Christian nation” while others contend that statement is a myth. Using the Constitution and writings of the Founders, research and evaluate the claim that the United States was founded as a “Christian nation.” Include a discussion of the current implications for religious freedom for all people in a democratic country in which the majority rules in elections and ballot initiatives. The grandmother does not wish to leave the cat. “She didn’t intend for the cat to be left alone in the house for three days because he would miss her.” (O’Connor). The irony here is that cats are not the type of animals who miss people or even care about their owners. During the whole ordeal of the family the cat is not seen; however, at the closing of the story, the cat is seen cuddling up nest to The Misfit. In fact, the cat actually shows affection to The Misfit as if the cat is grateful that the grandmother has been shot. This is ironic because the grandmother took the cat because she did not want it to be lonely, however; the cat is never portrayed as lonely. He is portrayed as a normal cat loving the new owner.…

    How Stories Came To Earth

The main character in “How Stories Came to Earth” is a spider named Anansi. Anansi is the one doing the tricking to the other characters in the myth. For example, he tricked the hornets to go into a gourd by pretending it was raining. Ananasi had to trick the other characters in the myth because in order for Nyame to release the stories, Anansi had to bring him four fearsome creatures. In “ Master Cat; or, Puss in Boots” the one tricking the characters is a cat named Puss. For instance, the ogre displays his ability by changing into a lion, frightening the cat, who then tricks the ogre into changing into a mouse. The cat then pounces upon the mouse and devours it. “How Stories Cameto Earth” uses anthropomorphism by making the spider and other animals attribute human traits, emotions, and intentions. In the other myth the cat also attributes these same qualities. “How Stories Came to Earth” is culturally meaningful because it shows how stories came to earth. “Master Cat; or, Puss in Boots” is also meaningful because it shows how to dispute for what you want (gaining power, wealth, and the hand of a princess in marriage). The ambition in both tales is to get what they want. Thus, the two myths have their similarities between each…
