Performance Enhancing Drugs In Sports Essay
What if people used performance enhancing drugs in sports? Are there any side effects from using PEDs? Should professional athletes use them? What if I use them just to be a little better in sports? Many people would argue that legalizing performance enhancing drugs will make professional and recreational sports better. They think sports as a whole will be raised to the next level of entertainment. Despite this belief, sports can only be brought down from the use of these drugs; if an athlete has no skill or natural ability performance enhancing drugs will only hurt them.

When a player moves up to the major leagues they have already achieved one of the highest status’s in their profession. Grasping for more is useless if someone cannot earn it. They are already among the best so there is no reason for these professionals to try to be better by cheating. This is causing their fans to look poorly upon them or worse imitate their poor actions. Children and young adults idolize many of these professionals, wanting to be just like them. If their role models take PEDs, then their fans will take the same drug to be just like their role models. In an effort to be cool and do what is popular children and young adults will be ruining their health to follow the leader, to follow their role model. Professional athletes are seen as an example of how people should be. Who sees their abuse of PEDs? Children, teenagers and young adults. What do they do when they see their idol do something? They emulate their idols. It does not matter if the athlete wants to take PEDs and it is their own decision.
