People Learn More Readily from Electronic Media Than the Do from Print
With the emergence of electronic media, am optimistic that information is closer to us than ever before.

I am of the school of thought that people learn more readily from electronic media than they do from print, never the less, this does not reduce information available in printed materials.

Due to technological advancement and sophistication, lots of people find it stylish to own an electronic gadget especially the portable ones. Apart from being stylish, with inernet as a link to the world, these portable gadgets with internet connection makes information readily available accessible from any location.
For example, using the search engine to find a given information saves lots of time and is much easier than going to the library before deciding on the book or books to read, then finally taking out time to read and understand the book(s). Boycotting the long and tiring process of retrieving information from print is one reason people learn far more readily from electronic media than they do from print.

Watching the television is another sure reason people learn more readily from electronic media than they do from print. With the emergence of electronic storage devices such as compact disc, television programmes can be saved and wat ched at will. For example, my little neice prefers to learn her alphabet and numbers from the television programmes and cartoons that teaches it rather than reading her books. She find the program certainly more interactive than going through the pages of her books. With these programmes, she also finds it easier to remember and readily apply what she has learnt.

Lots of people learn from electronic media than they do from print as this could be viewed as "working smart rather than working hard", since if gleaning the World Wide Web or watching the television could give as much information as the print will, then it will be less stressful and time saving to glean the web or watch television.

Reading has gone from print to becoming digital in today’s world and affects not only the way we read but also the way we communicate with one another, since we are conscience about technology altering the way we read. Remember what a book looks like? Let me show you that by leaving our prints behind, the way we read today has scaled to a digital level, leaving standard books and letters obsolete. Even though you can’t furnish a room with just a single device, like you are able with books, or you can’t necessarily fling your e-reader across the room because you risk breaking it. Despite Jabr (April, 2013) stating "Before 1992 most studies concluded that people read slower, less accurately and…

When it comes to actual hands on learning, we have to actually think for ourselves and form images so that we can comprehend. It goes in our long term memory as opposed to watching TV which goes to our short term memory. From personal experience it has always been easier for me to learn from reading and mirroring contact. When I was in grade school and we would watch a movie or program to learn about the current subject, I would completely zone out. My mind would wander and I would think about everything but what I was supposed to gain. Throughout the years as humans progressed, electronics have evolved. I agree that there is a time and a place for electronic usage. On the other hand, it’s also becoming more reliable so more tend to it.…

Nicholas Carr's essay "Does The Internet Make You Dumber" proves to be more persuasive in expressing his beliefs on why exactly this new medium of obtaining information might not be the best. One example that proved to be very persuasive was the reminder that we are animals, and will act on instinct, as presented "Our presdispostition is to be aware of as much of what's going on around us as possible. Our fast-paced, reflexive shifts in focus were once crucial to our survival" (Carr 219).…

Reading the web is not the same as reading in the book or magazine or even newspaper. The information that you read from the internet may not stick with you as long as it would if you were to read a book, newspaper, magazine, or journal. This can’t be a hundred percent accurate for everyone, but according to most people that I have questioned, the information that they read from the web/internet doesn’t stick with them as long as it does when they read an actual book, newspaper, or magazine.…

In the new millennium, almost everything is digital. Now days, most people have access to the Internet and the billions of bits of information it contains. Books are now electronic and can be read on tablets and smart phones. This raises a few questions: Does this serge in electronics mean that we are no longer thinking critically of the information and merely walking the surface? Or does way we receive this information have and no effect on how a person processes information? This has been a debate for years, and has been weighed in on by countless people. Two of those people are Sven Birkerts and Wen Stephenson. Birkerts believes that…

Second, people today are becoming reliant upon over using electronics. When it comes to actually hands on learning, people need to think for themselves and form images and then they can totally comprehend. Unlike watching television goes to short-term memory, it goes to long-term memory. For instance, it has always been benefiical for me to learn from reading and mirroring practice. When I was a seventh grader, my history teacher let us watch a documentary about modern history. I was dozing off in the middle of class. Also, during watching the documentary, it was easy to be distracted and let my attention wander. Hence, I could not concentrate on my class material and the memory was lasting no longer. It shows that studying with electronic media is not effective.…

Children are very curious and want to know every small thing. I believe it’s a good thing that children want to learn more just by watching because it keeps them in tune with modern technology and it becomes a natural “instinct” to learn and catch on easily. “In fact, 87 percent of 12- to 17-year-old are now online, according to a 2005 Pew Research Center report. That’s a 24 percent increase over the previous four years, leading parents and policymakers to worry about the effect access to worlds of information–and misinformation–has on children. Psychologists are only beginning to answer that question, but a study led by Michigan State University psychologist Linda Jackson, PhD, showed that home Internet use improved standardized reading test scores. Other researchers have found that having the Internet at home encourages children to be more self-directed learners.”…

Over the last two decades the Internet has developed into instant source of information. Libraries and museums are slowing becoming useless for research and development, because of how easy and simplistic it is to discover information with just a couple mouse clicks away. Now in modern libraries people do not just go there for books, but they are there for the wifi hotspots as well. Tapping of the keys is the most predominant sound rather then turning of the pages. Why would you read a whole book to find out a just little bit of information when you can just type into Google what you need to know about your topic? I feel as if most people aren’t as well rounded and intellectual as they were back when the Internet was not around. People even myself are so reliant on the Internet that if we could not use it we would feel helpless.…

As a college student the computer has benefited myself in many ways. When a professor assigns me a paper to write, my first instinct is to do research online. The reason being is that online I find a plethora of information regarding the topic of my paper. For example when I was formulating a paper on World War II, I looked online to find some information. With a simple Google search, I was able to find relevant information ranging from the beginning of the war to the end of the war. Google automatically found five to ten websites on World War II in a matter of seconds. Some may point out that the information found online is not credible. However while this may be true, you can easily find credible sources by tweaking your search methods. Google has an advanced search preference where I can search for scholarly articles, newspaper editorials, and other credible sources. Not only was I able to find all the supplemental information I needed to write a paper, but it also saved me a lot of time. I remember the time when I conducted my research at the library. I would spend hours thumbing through pages of a book to find information. Most of the time my research would come to little or no avail because I would never be able to find the information I was looking for. Sometimes the library didn’t even have the information I needed. Overall, the Internet has eliminated…

The evolution of technology, made our lives easier and faster than before. Talking about the two distinct generations, like those born before the digital era and those from the digital era. Even today, the use of old media like newspapers, television, etc. is pretty evident among both the generations, but younger ones are more leaned towards the use of new media like the use of smart phones, IPad’s and Laptops, as it helps them multitask. Thinking of the older generations, i.e. grandparents and their time, they did not support new media as much as younger generations do it today. According to grandparents, studying from books, reading, and writing with pen and paper is the right way of studying. Using new media like IPad’s, laptop and smartphone,…

The revolutionary way which the internet offers triggers an intriguing question whether it will replace books or printed media as the main source of information. From my observation, I tend to believe that it will. My main reason is because it has so many advantages over printed media, which make the former (the internet) more preferable, more interesting, more attractive, and even more reliable than the latter (printed media). As a result, more and more people turn to the internet every time they need to seek for information. Here are some of the advantages which I can list to support my belief.…
