People Could Be The Cause For The Earth To Be Destroyed Or Uninhabitable?
People could be the cause for the earth to be destroyed or uninhabitable. On December 7, 1941 the Japanese bombed the American fleet at Pearl Harbor. The U.S. joined the war right after this attack. On the dates August 6 and August 9, 1945 the U.S. dropped two atomic bombs on the homeland of Japan. After the war, the number of bombs dropped on their cities heavily devastated Europe and Japan. But we looked at the just the toll it had on the people, But it wasn’t just that. The thousands of boats that were destroyed and the thousands of planes that crashed caused major pollution to the oceans. It wasn’t just being shot down it was the training crashes also that took place before the war. “You can find U.S. wrecks from World War II scattered …show more content…
It seems like very little progress has been made to help reduce the amount of pollution produced. Everyone is still driving there cars, they fly around and taking the bus and so on. This is really hurting the environment as a hole, and no one seems to be bothered by the fact that we are hurting the environment. People need to step into action right now. If another World War were to happen if would be devastating for everyone. “It is predicted that 150 Million tons of smoke would be produced by the nuclear arsenals of the U.S. and Russia. 150 million tons of smoke in the stratosphere would cause minimum daily temperatures in the largest agricultural regions of the Northern Hemisphere to drop below freezing for 1 to 3 years. Nightly killing frosts would occur and prevent food from being grown”( Agence 3Cinq Inc.). This would be a mass extinction event similar to the one 65 million years ago. We would cause all of this, making us the reason why the world would be uninhabitable. Present day we have nominated Donald Trump. We are closest we have ever been to another world war. With tensions with North Korea rising, it is getting more and more scary. We need people to stop sitting around and watching TV. They need to stand up and do something they need to stop letting other people make the decisions for them. People now are just letting everything happen. We need to come together to stop us from destroying ourselves. Stop saying climate change is real but then go back to your everyday life and drive around in your car and take the bus. Maybe, bike to work, or walk. People are just like Billy, they see something go down, and they just let it

When it comes to reversing the alarming amounts of man-made CO2, is it too late? In the article “Why Bother?” by Michael Pollan, the author suggests that global warming is the product of modern consumerism and the downfall of human virtue. Energy is at the heart of every modern life. Everything that we do; whether it is, travel, entertainment, powering your home or machinery at work, consumes vast amounts of energy. Therefore, unless Michael Pollan can persuade billions of people to revert back to the 1800’s, he is wasting his time. Energy consumption will continue to climb. How does modern society assuage its appetite for energy? The only way to reduce man-made CO2 is to produce clean energy. “Why Bother?” has many valid points; however,…

In many cases, most people in the United States; even around the world do not acknowledge that our planet is being polluted by coal plants and other industrialized nations. Climate change is a problem and threat to the world. In the reading of “Environmental Warriors Going To The Root Of The Problem” by Greg Jobin- Leeds and AgitArte, it talked mainly about the Earth being polluted and the reasons for that. The people that aren’t wealthy are affected by the plants that are built in the cities around them. The non wealthy do not have the authority to stand up and make the environment better for themselves.…

Global warming is becoming a huge problem in our world. Some people may say that there is no such thing as global warming, but just last week it was 70 degrees in November in Ohio. As the world slowly becomes warmer, the effects of global warming will soon be irreversible. Here we are enjoying the warm weather and going for an afternoon jog in our summer clothes, but the problem is that we aren’t afraid of what could happen to our own planet earth in the future. Also, this generation thinks that we won’t be around when global warming harms us and the earth, so why should we have to worry about finding a cure to global warming? Because of this these people aren’t cleaning up the earth.…

Some things that can be done to fight global warming are purchasing energy efficient vehicles. Try to get the least polluting vehicle. Try to drive less. People can carpool or maybe take public transportation. Purchasing energy efficient appliances. In conclusion , if people would understand that this is an extremely important issue I think that they would take the necessary steps to avoid this issue from going any further and ultimately damaging the environment. I personally think that this should start at the school level. There needs to be increases…

There is one Earth. All people who live on it have to share it, not only with those living today, but with those in centuries to come. What is done today will manifest itself tomorrow, affecting someone, somewhere. Many don’t think about their actions because what they do might not affect them in their own lifetime. As Pope Francis said, “We received this world as an inheritance from past generations, but also as a loan from future generations, to whom we will have to return it!” It is easy to harm the environment because many are ignorant of the consequences of their actions, which have become very routine. Changes in the individual mindset can put into motion a chain reaction. One person can influence many others, and one small change can make a big difference. There have been many figures throughout history that have been great examples of how important it is to respond to the call the Pope has made for environmental action and protection. Some influential activists have been Julia Hill and Wangari Maathai, both being very inspiring through their actions. People should heed…

The atmosphere is choking from excessive amounts of carbon dioxide. Greenhouse gases are melting polar icecaps and rising sea levels. Deforestation is diminishing our chances of ever discovering new species in forests and destroying the carbon cycle. Humans do in fact have the capability of changing the basic chemistry of this massive planet. Scientific evidence shows that we have already contributed to irreversible climate change. Humankind has an obligation to reconcile its difference with the environment and learn to conserve natural resources. Conservation begins with knowledge, which leads to action, which will save our…

If we don’t do anything about this soon, the planet we call home could turn to chaos. If we fund money and time into helping our environment and various climates by being more energy efficient, we can make a difference. I urge you to spend just a little more time and money into helping slow global warming down by conserving water, planting more trees, recycling and reducing your waste. Also, scale down on your use of fossil fuels and other malignant toxins that are heating our atmosphere. By doing this, we will be able to bring climate change to an…

A multitude of things can go, and will go, terribly wrong if we keep going in the same direction that we are. Natural disasters, loss of eco life, and overall a very annoying and preventable occurence is what we'll get if we don't get it together. As much as it's way more appealing to just forget about it, our children and anybody else who lives in the future will have to deal with the unnessecary problems that we started. It is this specific generation who contrubuted most to pollution, so we should do everything in our power to not go down in history as the era of people who destroyed our…

The first group of experts believes that human interaction with the planet is in no way harmful. They stand on the grounds that the planet will be able to recover from any exploitation man performs on it. Earth has an automatic system to correct itself from factors that might threaten it. This homeostatic process guarantees its existence regardless of how drastic, harmful, or negative human actions might come to be. It can correct itself through balancing any harmful changes. Earth has “automatic processes to preserve itself from changes” (Moore 45).…

Our world, our environment, what we live in is what you should start to care about. One way to start caring is to change the transportation you take; such as hybrid cars. Even though hybrid cars use gas, it will be better for our environment and will be able to prevent a smaller amount of pollution in the air. Many people do not realize it or might not even care, but if it goes on like this, our world would be very polluted; the air we breathe in will be even more contaminated; so stop driving conventional cars and go buy a hybrid car.…

There are all these campaigns for us to combat global warming and reduce our emissions, we have all the science to maybe not stop it but effectively reduce it to stable conditions. First, we have global warming, which is a problem that must be solved as soon as possible. Some ignorant people think that it won’t happen but we are actually living this situation right now, every single day. According to some NASA studies, since 1950, the average temperature has climbed 1.4Fahrenheit degrees around the world. As a consequence of this fact, an Arctic ice area, which was bigger than the United States, has melted this year! Another evidence of global warning is that the frequency and number of hurricanes and earthquakes around the world has increased the last years. The irony of all this is that even though we do realize what is happening; even though we know that we are destroying our planet, we are still polluting, wasting and damaging.…

To be honest, I never really have put much thought into the environment and how every little thing we do affects it in some way. Coming in to college and taking my environmental biology class and now watching the documentary in this class has opened my eyes to some realities about the world we live in today, such as, half of the forests that originally covered 46% of the Earth's land surface are gone. Only one-fifth of the Earth's original forests remain pristine and undisturbed. Furthermore 60% of the world's coral reefs that contain up to one-fourth of all marine species could be lost in the next 20-40 years. Those are things that I would have never imagined, especially growing up in the area I was raised in it was pretty much all pasture and clean springs. But that’s the reality that no one seems to want to really hear. If we took some of these statistics seriously and did just a few small things to help our environment that we supposedly love it would make a much bigger difference than everyone probably thinks.…

The more our country develops, the more our life conditions need to be improved. However, the environmental problem is so serious that it causes too much damage for our life, not only in many years ago but also nowadays. Have you ever heard about the Great Pacific Garbage Patch yet? It is twice the size of Texas and floating somewhere between San Francisco and Hawaii. It also has 80% plastic and weighs in at 3.5 million tons. Many attempts have been made to clean them but it seems to be useless. Today, as our global population expands, so too does the amount of trash we produce, the amount of carbon dioxide we exhale and also the temperature of our global. If we continue this way, we will not be able to imagine how terrible all the damages may bring to our lives in the future. Therefore, our government, especially the local level should care more about the environmental problem and global warming and have more solutions as soon as possible.…
