Pember's Case Summary
Pember faced many problems as her time as a nurse in a soldier’s hospital. They range from liquor to visitors and from rats to shortages. The problems that Pember faced towards the liquor aspect of the job numerous. One problem was that the monthly barrel of liquor that she could draw from was under the guardianship of the apothecary and his clerk. Quarts and pints were issued through any order coming from the surgeons and their substitutes, because of that, the contents of the barrel would be long gone before she was entitled to draw more.
