Patriotism was one of the first reasons Television was made, and sense then has continued to contribute to TV and theater all around the world. Viewed as both a common good and insidious evil depending on whom you talk to, either way patriotism has seeped into every ones minds one time or another.
Television has shown patriotism ever sense it became available to people, and most would agree they like shows and movies better when patriotism is involved. Baehr a box office worker even said, “Moviegoers and T V viewers prefer movies and television programs that celebrate traditional American values, like liberty, private property, the free market and patriotism.” People who run the box offices themselves admit that patriotism is one of the more popular themes in television and theater. Movie and television producers are even honored for showing devoted love, support and or the defense of ones country, which after all is the definition of patriotism. The faith and freedom awards are received if ones film promotes positive American values, in most cases patriotism. This once again shows the governments steps to show patriotism in films and television. Patriots=ism is also seen in other country’s and can cause just as much of a commotion. In china a reporter wrote, “don’t exploit patriotism for sensationalist reporting to attain higher sales.” Again patriotism is in the news although this time not on the right end. Patriotism is not always seen the same way and although it is positively shown in theater it is seen as both good and bad.
One point of view is that it is something that is good to have and something most should enjoy having. Most would argue that being a patriot is something that fills you with valor or makes your actions seem noble. For one thing in some movies patriotism is the only thing that keeps a character or group of people going, like in the movie the patriot which tells a story of a brave militia group standing up for
