God and Patience
Patience Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet. But what does patience mean actually? According to “Free-Dictionary.com”, the definition of patience is the capacity to endure hardship, difficulty, or inconvenience without complaint. Patience emphasizes calmness, self-control, and the willingness or ability to tolerate delay. As we all know, patience is one of the main virtues and is hard work, and costs one. However its fruits, the results and rewards surprises one pleasantly. For me, I believe patience is God’s test for us. For instance, when we are being concerned about our Heavenly Father again and again, we might grow tired of waiting. It might begins to feel like our prayers are falling on deaf ears. Tired of waiting for His replies to our prayers, tired of waiting for Jesus our Savior to return. These tiredness are for God to test our patience. Patience reveals our faith in God’s timing, omnipotence, and love. The course of life is not easy. We have to face a lot of struggles in our lives. We have to suffer mental torment and physical agony. As things go the way we want, it is easy for patience to be demonstrated. Waiting is a common experience. Yet,waiting for the things you want to achieve can be a little hard sometimes, though the wait will be worth it at the end. While it may not seem worth it at the time to wait, we might be better off in the end. Similarly, a ‘bitter’ plant will take awhile to grow, nevertheless the ‘fruit’, its result will be pleasant and sweet. Basically patience pays off. There are moments in our lives that we can wait patiently and impatiently. Such as I could be impatient in arguments with others, impatient when my parents nagged about my untidy bedroom or being betrayed by friends. Though, my patience is displayed while I wait for God’s reply to my prayers and his plan for me. Patience is praised by Paul in Galatians 5:22-23 as among the fruit of the Spirit which should be produced for all the

Patience or procrastination? If you have one, then others assume you are doing the other. Is this always true though? It seems in our society people are always in a hurry and need to get things done quickly that patience has lost its virtue and those people have forgotten what it means. In Shakespeare’s drama “Hamlet” this argument has arisen more times than we could count, but when it comes to Hamlet and his actions they are mostly of patience and intellect.…

Husband and wife should be patient toward another. If both are truly pious, yet neither of them is perfectly holy, in such cases a patient, forgiving, forbearing spirit is very needful. You, therefore, that are husbands and wives, do not aggravate every error or mistake, every wrong or hasty word, every wry step as though it were a willfully designed intolerable crime; for this would soon break all to pieces: but rather put the best construction on things, and bear with and forgive one another’s failings.…

Second, God is at work answering everyone’s prayer. The Bible says in Isaiah 65, verse 24, "It will also come to pass that before they call, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear." God wants to hear your prayers. He is eager to hear our thoughts and request. He has a desire to have a relationship with His children. The Bible says in James 1, verse 17 that, “Every good thing bestowed and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation, or shifting shadow.” God loves us enough to hear our prayers and to help us when we need Him most. The apostle Paul reminds us in…

Uchtdorf said “: patience is not passive resignation, nor is it failing to act because of our fears. Patience means active waiting and enduring. It means staying with something and doing all that we can—working, hoping, and exercising faith; bearing hardship with fortitude, even when the desires of our hearts are delayed.” (Gen. Conf. Apr. 2010) I will strive to live up to this definition of patience. In this journey I have learned to trust that the Lord has our best interest at heart and if I give Him my righteous desires, they will be given unto me at His due time. Becoming patient is not a destination but a journey that I will continue for the rest of…
