Paths of Life
The only way to know for sure if a path is right for you is to take and follow the path all the way to the end. Unfortunately life can only allow so many misdirection plays and crossing of paths. There are many paths to choose from and every decision everyday of one's life can lead further down a path or force you to back up. Many people believe in one path and stick with it while others try to follow every path they get a hint of. Only one person can make this decision of a single or multiple path life and that person is you. There are many paths, but in specific four distinct groups. Every event in life can be placed on one of these four paths. The first major path in life is most closely related to the American Dream. This path takes one through a normal life. As the old American dream cliché goes one grows up in a family with two stable parents and one other sibling. They go through their school years doing every activity from the second grade play to the senior prom. They eventually go through a four-year college and end up marrying a woman who has had a similar existence. Both work for a job they particularly like and wind up having two children, one boy, one girl and living in suburban America. They have a three-bedroom house, two cares and a wonderful bunch of neighbors. Their children will eventually follow in the same path. This path is the middle of the road path and either has a step up or a step down. A step down from the American dream path would be the underachiever path. This starts with a person growing up in a somewhat dysfunctional family and winds up hating their early life. This path leads to a bad school experience and a state of anti-social behavior where the person misses every activity from the second grade play to the senior prom. This person will decide not to struggle through college and joins the work force out of high school. This person has no real life and completely hates their job. This person suffers though life in many

While living in America, I have witnessed many transformations within society as a result of the government and public policy. I do not agree that almost anyone can achieve the “American Dream”, as social status, race and gender can impact the success. My perception of the definition of the “America Dream” is that people are given equal opportunities to gain success despite their differences. The “American Dream” is also a dream that suggest that life should be fair and plentiful for all citizens.…

The American Dream is the dream of many people living and immigrating to America. Everyone has his or her own personal dream, but not everyone can attain the American Dream. There are a lot of different reasons as to why the dream cannot be attained. An example of this is can be found in John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men. George, Lennie, and Candy have obstacles in their way that was keeping them from attaining the American Dream.…

There are many great people who agree, the American Dream is deceiving and untruthful. And many people have failed in the name of it's lies. Many people are robbed of their chance to fulfill their ambitions, before they even try. Additionally, millions of people have no homes and are jobless, and the only way you’d be able to beat the American Dream is to overcome those other millions of americans. The key word in the definition of success is ‘accomplish,’ but there are only few who have truly had their wishes come true. If you believe in the American Dream, you will be led into false security, and that will be your…

In The American Dream I believe that we have to be successful in order to be able to reach The American Dream. In the book, "The Great Gatsby" success is meant by having the biggest houses and nicest cars. Gatsby was very rich so he had a huge house and very fancy things. “Gatsby’s gorgeous car lurched up the rocky drive to my door and gave out a burst of melody from its three-noted horn.” (The book The Great Gatsby page 50) Having success means everything. Now having success in our society is having a lot of money, having expensive cars and expensive things. Also living in a huge house. To be able to be successful now you have to go to school and go to college and get a good paying career. Back then they would just sell or transport illegal…

The American dream is an illusion implanted in the minds of people that sets the bar for life achievement. American children are raised in a society that tells them that they can be anything they want to be as an adult, if children were able to read between the lines of their parents motivational speech there would be less confusion. What parents really mean to say is that it's okay to be whatever they want to be when they grow up as long as it makes lots of money. After all in an excessive American society success is largely based off positions of power and financial stability.…

When people are living the American Dream, you think that failure is out of the questions, if you fail you can’t live your dreams, or anything and that you should just give up. “The Right to Fail” by William Zinesser proves that the American Dream is accessible even if/when you fail once or even multiple times. The text says, “Release him from the pressure of attaining certain goals by a certain age- he has a good chance of becoming g our national idol.” This supports my claim because it shows that is you’re pressured, you can’t do what you should and when you are calm and relaxed, so many possibilities can happen and you can be whoever you want. “They Live the Dream,” by Dan Rather explains how if you fail, don’t give up and that when something really bad happens if you…

The american dream is what all young people hope to obtain later in their life after college. Nowadays, many people leave their native country to move to American in search of freedom, fantastic education, and successful career. They want to achieve their personal goals in life; for example, political, better standard of living, good service healthcare, and equality of their life that they could not back in their homeland. As D'Souza stated in "Becoming American," In American, by contrast, you get to write the script of your own life." (344). In my opinion, I agree with D'Souza that we can achieve the American dream because of three reasons: Equality, better education, and better healthcare service.…

The American Dream, by definition, is the traditional social ideals of the United States, such as equality, democracy, and material prosperity. To an individual, this means that they are born equal to everyone around them; that they have the same opportunity as the person next to them to work hard in order to achieve their goals. Basically, the American Dream leads people to pursue success in life. This success could be measured in any way the individual wants. However, what most people measure success in is economic prosperity and stability, as well as the ability to sustain their own needs in life.…
