Parrot Fever
Psittacosis (parrot fever):

Have you ever heard of the animal disease Parrot fever? Parrot fever is caused by bacteria, but it also has the characteristics of a virus. The disease is caused by airborne illness and something in the infected animals waste. Some of the symptoms of this disease in animals are discharge from their nose, weight loss, loss of balance and weakness. In humans they can get this disease by inhaling the infected waste or digesting the particles. One way to test for this is to keep the bird away from other birds. They also will do blood test, examination of the symptoms, same for humans. They can treat this disease by keeping the infected birds away from other birds that may catch this disease. Also disinfecting everything that the bird has touched, for humans giving you medication, Sometimes organ may be involved and surgery may be required. Psittacosis or Parrot flu is caused by bacteria, but also has the same traits of a virus. This disease is mostly caused by a virus that can cause the bird to get this disease. This disease is mostly shows up in cockatiels, Parakeets, and Parrots. They mostly worsen with this if they are extremely stressed. ‘About 10% of healthy birds can carry this disease with no signs of this disease.’ (Mcleod, Lianne). The symptoms in birds are discharge from their eyes and nose. This discharge is usually a green yellowish color and is very goopy. With their eye it’s kind of like very stinky green discharge. They might show symptoms of having the flu. Also they might get very depressed, and they don’t want to eat. The birds that are infected can transmit this to their offspring, other birds and often to humans. Like I said in the last paragraph this disease can be spread easily to humans. There have been many cases where this is very mild, but other has had to have surgery on their kidneys, intestines and other organs, also this disease in humans is a lung infection. The disease to humans can be normal to

Influenza, commonly known as "the flu", is an infectious disease of birds and mammals caused by RNA viruses of the family Orthomyxoviridae, the influenza viruses. The most common symptoms are chills, fever, sore throat, muscle pains, headache (often severe), coughing, weakness/fatigue and general discomfort. Although it is often confused with other influenza-like illnesses, especially the common cold, influenza is a more severe disease caused by a different type of virus. Influenza may produce nausea and vomiting, particularly in children, but these symptoms are more common in the unrelated gastroenteritis, which is sometimes inaccurately referred to as "stomach flu" or "24-hour flu".…

Every disease or illness starts from microorganisms that are infectious to the body. It was once discovered that contagious diseases can easily be spread from person to person; whether that be transmitted by any bodily fluids, skin contact, or via airborne. That being said, it was very easily to get infected and treatment during this time wasn’t a priority. Like the authors Frances M. Malpezzi and William M. Clements of, Italian-…

Bird flu is a type of flu normally found in birds. Infected birds shed influenza virus in their saliva, nasal secretions, and faeces. Susceptible birds become infected when they have contact with contaminated excretions or with surfaces that are contaminated with excretions or secretions. Although bird flu viruses do not usually infect humans, more than 100 confirmed cases of human infection with bird flu viruses have occurred since 1997. Most cases of bird flu infection in humans have resulted from direct or close contact with infected poultry (domesticated chickens, ducks, and turkeys) or with surfaces contaminated with secretions and excretions from infected birds. The spread of bird flu viruses from an ill person to another person has been reported only rarely, and transmission has not been observed to continue beyond one person.…

    The Ghost Bird

In “Animal Distress Calls” the main character won’t give up on sick Josie(an ostrich) but he knows he can’t help her because he's just a kid and not a vet. For example in the text it says, “I know I can’t give Josie the same kind of help you can (Schrefer 29).” We can conclude that from that example the main character is really trying to help the bird as best as she can because she wants her to feel better and restore to full health. Similarly, in “The Ghost Bird” the characters attempt to save birds too, but this time only one. For example, Mrs.Gill tries to look for the birds through all of the birdhouses to find where the supposedly extinct birds may be nesting.“We’ve checked each bird house at least twice.” Mrs.Gill said(Smith 29)”, this textual evidence shows that everyone is trying hard no matter how many bird houses there are, they want to find the birds very badly to save their dwindling numbers and to prove that Mr.Tanner had seen those birds and he wasn’t crazy as the town had thought. Also there a humongous amount of bird houses at Mr.Tanner’s home so that's a tremendous amount of bird houses to look through. Therefore this evidence explains, “The Ghost Bird” and “Animal Distress Calls” both have the same…

The other main aspect the birds reference is that of voyeurism. Voyeurism is basically the act of watching someone while there are in private without the other person knowing. Usually this is in a sexual manner, however, in the case of the film Psycho, it is more like stalking. Throughout the building and repeatedly referenced, are the stuffed birds, like mentioned previously. It consistently seemed like those pieces of taxidermy were multiple extra sets of eyes with their gaze always set upon Marion. Then, at the end of the film after the shower scene birds are used yet again. This time is when Norman walks into the bathroom and witnesses Marion on the ground dead, following the very famous murder scene. When he sees Marion he steps back, in horror, and knocks over a photo of a bird, thus breaking it. This connects to the prior metaphor of Marion being a small bird, Therefore, the audience can come to the conclusion that Norman was indeed the…

Symptoms appear 2-6 weeks after the initial infection, lasting less than 2 month. Some, especially children, exhibit no symptoms at all. Early signs are often mistaken for the flu. They include nausea, vomiting, fatigue, fever, abdominal pain, and Jaundice which is the yellowing of the skin and eyes. A doctor can determine if you are infected by discussing the symptoms and taking a blood sample.…

Chickenpox is a viral infection caused by the Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV) transmitted via the respiratory route that causes itchy, blisters-like rashes usually lasting about 5-10 days. It is highly contagious transmitted by person to person contact (direct) from respiratory secretions or indirectly through contact with airborne respiratory droplets, via soiled inanimate objects infected by discharge from skin lesions, vesicle discharges or nasopharyngeal secretions. The incubation period lasts about 10-21 days and the disease is communicable 1-2 days before and until the lesions become crusted.…
