University of Tampa currently has two major garages, West Parking Garage and Thomas Parking Garage, for its students, staff and faculty members, admissions and visitors.(Campus Map, 2012) The majority of UT students and faculty members own vehicles and drive to campus. They are not very satisfied with the amount of time it takes to find a spot on campus, especially before class time. 

The office of Graduate and Continuing Studies hosts information sessions about the graduate programs at UT. Daily appointment could be scheduled with graduate counselors. (Graduate Campus Visit) Henry B. Plant Museum attracts lots of visitors daily. The museum hours are Tuesday – Saturday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday, noon – 5 p.m. (ut.edu) Visitor parking is available but very limited to the right side of Plant Hall.

There are several issues with UT parking policy, including parking permit, time management and garage policy. (The University of Tampa Parking Study, 2007) There is not enough signage indicating the number of spaces available in lots/garages. (The University of Tampa Parking Study, 2007) The parking locations are not convenient for campus residents and faculty members to use, especially for bad weather and running late situations. (The University of Tampa Parking Study, 2007)

When you drive from Canada to catch a flight out of SeaTac, one of the first stops you’ll need to make is the facility where you will leave your vehicle. As you may have already discovered, parking your car at an off-site SeaTac Airport parking lot (like Aeroparking) is generally the best choice: Aeroparking provides you with short-term and long-term parking at competitive rates, and the facility is kept secure with a variety of features. The service is friendly, the shuttles are timely, and the parking lot is only a few minutes from the airport.…

Her clock screamed Get Up! She rolled out of bed 20 minutes earlier than she normally got up for school. On any other day she’d be slapping at the snooze button, but today was a special day. Today was a milestone; she was finally able to drive to school alone. She was so excited to show off a car she brought back to life with her own hands and to rid herself of the imposed parking restrictions. After she cycled through her morning routine, she slipped into the silky black car seat, turned over the engine, shifted into drive and pointed her baby to school. A newfound sense of freedom flowed through her veins as she watched the homes and fields roll by as if seeing them for the first time. The sight of the parking lot at school was soon in view, which triggered a sudden anxiety attack manifested by her breakfast thinking about making an appearance. Were the parking police going to again verbally accost her? Thankfully she quickly settled into a parking spot where she knew like-minded car lovers would take care of her chariot. Taking one last peak at her prize she noticed a shabby looking van lurking behind her car. Making a U-turn, she strolled over to the man in the van. As she neared the man the flood of questions came pouring out of his mouth, “Where is your parking pass? Why are you here? Do you realize there is not enough room for people like you when parking lots are this full?” The only remark she had she held back as she made her way back to her car. All those thoughts of the freedom she had earlier were swept away by the flood of questions and accusations. There had to be a solution for people who had to drive to school; a solution that would prevent delinquents like herself from plaguing the parking lot.…

Where we are parked, along Madison Avenue, exists as the 'grey area' between what is considered to be on-campus and off-campus maintained roadway. There are no signs posted along the road barring anyone from parking or restricting parking to certain hours. From talking with the many OSU representatives, there should be no problem parking where we are. However, the parking authority of Corvallis has an issue and has sited a municipal code…

Donald Shoup, an urban planning professor at UCLA and a parking guru explains that the price of parking is too low. Cars spend 95% of their lifetime parked, yet parking causes so many challenges, takes extra time, causes confusion, and contributes to pollution. He says that prices for parking should be increased to the price at which 1 to 2 parking spots are left open on every block. He described the SF parking system that changes parking prices depending on location and time of day. This method, called dynamic pricing, would change based on the demand for parking at different times of the day and in different locations. As many people find incentives not to pay for parking, such as the misuse of disabled passes and credentials,…

Parking is an important part of the transportation system. It is an efficient means of storing vehicles while they aren’t in use, and it causes little disruption to the neighboring roadways. Additionally, since parking is the terminal or destination for a trip, the availability of parking space can affect the attractiveness of destinations as well as transportation modes. The attractiveness of a destination is reduced if there is a delay or difficulty in parking. The use of transit systems is increased in areas where parking is scarce. To be efficient, the transportation system must include adequate parking facilities at all places that attract trips.…

Suggest improving the college car parking space for students. We are pleased to submit the following proposal outlining our plan to improve the use of car parking space, provide more parking slots by building a car parking block at the parking area of sport complex and changing or redesign the parking space. This can help to ensure the arrangements for the limited car parking spaces available across our TARC main campus are more efficient, and reduce congestion in and around the campus. With this, more students will be choosing TARC to study because of the convenient car park in the college.…

On an early morning, I woke up with a tired feeling; I had been studying all night in order to pass my final test of sociology because it would decide my grades between a C and a D. When I saw the morning was shinier than usual, I looked at the time and I noticed I had been late to class because my class started at 7 and I had been an almost half hour late to class. It was one of the busiest days of the semester because it was finals week. When I arrived at Fullerton College, the parking spaces were filled. I struggled for ten minutes to find one until I caught one and finally I did my test. However I didn’t have time to have clear thoughts and my test resulted in devastating my day.…

Traffic congestion and parking difficulties. Congestion is one of the most prevalent transport problems in large urban agglomerations, usually above a threshold of about 1 million inhabitants. It is particularly linked with motorization and the diffusion of the automobile, which has increased the demand for transport infrastructures. However, the supply of infrastructures has often not been able to keep up with the growth of mobility. Since vehicles spend the majority of the time parked, motorization has expanded the demand for parking space, which has created space consumption problems particularly in central areas; the spatial imprint of parked vehicles is significant.…
