Parker's Case Study: Transitioning To The Classroom
There are four staff who are working with Parker: one class teacher and three teacher aides. The class teacher had taught Parker previously when he was a new entrant in a smaller primary school. The teachers described Parker as a “lovely child” as he engages well in his learning when he followed the class routine. However, the teachers said that it is always difficult for Parker to get to class in the first place. This occurs when Ana arrives at school and two teachers would come to get Parker out of the car using the i-pad or things he enjoys like a rugby ball. Parker would sometimes independently come out of the car or Ana would carry him out of the car. Parker would sit on the ground screaming and spitting on the teachers. The teachers said that they would stand away until he calms down as he stops spitting and covers his face.
