Paris I Love You
I thought the movie Paris, Je t’aime (Paris, I love you) was very well put together with the different scenes about love. Love is such a broad topic which made the movie more interesting to see before I watched it. I liked how the movie never lost my attention and in each scene I would try to analyze what could be love story behind it. Love can be the smallest act of kindness which could be a bigger deal for someone else. Love can just be helping someone because it is in your nature. Love can make you rekindle feelings you thought once was lost. You could love something that is not good for you. Love could be blind but you still realize how blessed you be to have someone in your life. Love can be between anyone and anything. Love can be painful and heartbreaking. Love can make you reminisce on the wonderful times you had together. You could just love yourself, and who you are as person, or your surroundings. Personally, I enjoyed each scene because it was not all the same but it showed different sides to love that we may all have experienced or know someone who has. The movie showed how love does not have to be just two human beings loving each other but so can vampires or mimes. Some parts in the film was sad like when the mother lost her son and she was hallucinating about seeing him and how she did not want to let him go. Also I liked the end of that scene when her husband asked her where did she get her strength from and she said God. I thought that that ending was so powerful, when you have just hit rock bottom and nothing can be done about it, God will be there to comfort and lift you back up. Another scene I enjoyed was with the muslin girl named Zarka and the boy who was studying history, how it was love at first sight. While his other friends were talking sexually to other females, this boy just had eyes for Zarka, even though she was different in ethnic, religion or where she can from did not change his love for her. I really liked when he ran after

    1. The strong point of the movie is that it shows the parallel worlds of Lana and her uncle Paul. They both are people who try to help the world be a better place and they both end up in horrible situations in two very important cities in the United States. Lana is in Los Angeles volunteering at a Christian homeless shelter and Paul who is a Vietnam veteran tries to prevent Los Angeles from attacks just like 9/11. He suspects everyone who is of Arabic origin. They meet each other when a Pakistani gets brutally murdered. The best part of the movie is the well-assembled scenes, they are very dynamic, and that makes it that the two storylines come together so nicely. The Paul’s character is very tragic, he has suffered so much trauma in his life,…

I choose this movie because of the interesting reviews online. Not only were their reviews on the movie itself but also on a book written by Jennifer Clement titled Widow Basquiat. The movie portrayed the common actions of the people of the time well. It didn’t avoid the topics of drugs and homelessness in larger cities. It also showed some racism towards his skin color. Not only from others but from himself towards rich white people that he was working for. Overall I think that this movie did a very good job of showing his life, the good and the…

Absa's use of untrained actors/actresses works well in this film by giving it a flavor of reality. I would recommend this movie to anyone interested in seeing things from a non-western point of view or anyone wanting to see how different cultures interact and intertwine. If you do not like subtitled/foreign films, I would not recommend this movie unless you have a grasp of the French language. There is some fun poked at the differences involving Islam and Christianity, so if you are not tolerant or can't find humor in religion, you may be slightly offended.…

I liked this movie because of the settings, the way the movie was done and were it was done was beautiful because they used diffrent settings in a serious manner. One of the reasons i liked this movie again was when madea poured at bucket of water on the girl because, it was an unexpexted part in the movie and extremly funny to me and that happens in reality but its usually a cup, but this was a bucket that part of the movie really helped.…

Love is defined by dictionary.com as “an intense feeling of deep emotion.” Love is not something that should be forced, because of common interests, intelligence, or good weather. Love is much more natural, it is not an equation to be solved; it is an emotion to be felt. Who one decides to marry is one of, if not the biggest decision one has to make in his or her life, it should not be taken lightly. In Mavis Gallant’s short story, The Other Paris, Gallant mocks humanity’s modern day over analyzing of love through narrative voice and characterization to prove that love is not something that should be forced or solved, but something that should happen naturally on its own.…

When one thinks about the word love, one would think about marriage, kissing, and happiness. However, love can cause people to get injured or die. This lesson is evident in The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare by having irony and characterization. Franco Zeffirelli’s adaptation of William Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet (1968) tried to express this lesson through the use of atmosphere and body language. A lesson that can be learned from Shakespeare’s play is that love can get someone killed and Zeffirelli’s attempt at presenting this lesson in his film was a failure so the negative effect was that it made the deaths of many of the character seem to stem from stupidity rather from love.…

    The Movie Water

thI found this movie to be disturbing to watch at some points, but it was mainly sad most of the time. It was one the most powerful movies I have ever seen! In my opinion, I find it horrific for the parents of these widows to even accept the fact of basically giving up their young daughters to men much older than them. I also feel that it was a very cruel lifestyle these widows had lived. Just because their husband had passed away doesn't mean they have to live in such misery for the rest of their lives. Doesn't it seem impossible to believe that some of the things in this movie could have actually happened in real life? and that stuff like this is still going on today? There are widows still living in similar circumstances right now and things in the United States that relate to this situation such as, segregation and slavery. Having to see what these women had gone through all these years, makes us think of how lucky we actually are and how we take the goodness we have for granted. The struggles some of us may have now does not compare to the struggles the women in this video have gone through. It sure made me think twice about things. The symbolism of water in this movie was incredible though. Symbolism of water through out the film was rain and rivers as well as drinking water,to purify the characters and wash away negativities that they had lived through. This movie did help me learn much more about…

    archetype

In the movie Romeo and Juliet, film directed by Franco Zeffirelli in 1968. I chose love as archetypal. “Why do we struggle with love or why does love so often get so difficult? We as people are all born with the character of love and most people want to be in a relationship. So why do so many relationships go wrong? As with Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet we often believe that are love will be so powerful that we block all the family history and conflicts and all the drama that comes when two people fall in love. We as people in the beginning of our relationships always fantasize a love story like Romeo and Juliet and believe that our love will be written down in history. But more often than not we find that our love stories end in a tragedy for some reason” (Dr. Gary Trosclair, 2010). The archetypal of love has been around way before the play of Romeo and Juliet and it continues to be seen in earlier movies and in movies today. The story describes a recurring pattern that not only happens in play, movies and books but it also happens all the time in real life. “The recurring pattern that wreaks our relationships what we know as love isn’t just about our families history but the conflicts inside us that haven’t been resolved in our life’s that we bring to our relationship. Romeo and Juliet may be our cultures most powerful love story” (Dr. Gary Trosclair, 2010). Through archetype of love movies we could learn the struggles, the happiness, and the dangers that love could bring to us. And by learning from these movies and giving them some attention. We might be able to learn from love movies and avoid the dangers of love. Most time in the beginning of a relationship we sometimes feel like nothing can break us apart we feel like kings and queens so in love that sometimes it doesn’t even feel real all you could think…

It’s amazing how different the country was back then. It is a very moving film and it’s difficult not to be moved emotionally by the tragedy and senselessness of it all. It is just as vivid to the all the friends and relatives of the four little girls, as if it happened yesterday. As I stated, the film is very intense and moving because the memories of the people involved are still quite vivid. One scene that stood out to me was when one of the mothers’ stated that she doesn't harbor any hate. She used to but has kind of resigned herself to the fact that that it wouldn’t do any good at this point. Nevertheless, she admits that it’s something that she has to work on daily through her belief in God. Of course, it makes us wonder if we would be able to somehow handle it as well as she has.…

    Love: How Is It?

Life has lots of emotions: happiness, sorrow, guilt, frustration, love, and so on. Love is the one emotion which brings in huge changes in our lives and a different kind of emotion begins with it. How can we describe it? Describing love is very hard because in every phase of life, characterization of love can be varied. In childhood, through romantic films and stories, we started to get feeling that love is passionate and when people will be going through it, life would be full of happiness. In adulthood, people’s perception about love might change. Those who are fantasizing about love realized that it is not only about physical attraction but also about relationship, responsibilities and companionship. When ages grow, some people become optimistic about love, some become pessimistic and some of them are on a way to rediscover love. Definition of love can be changed not only with one’s maturity level but also with his/her cultural values. In Raymond Carver story – ‘What We Talk About When We Talk About Love’ – the main protagonists Mel and Terri, and Jhumpa Lahiri’s creation – ‘Going Ashore’ – soon to be married couple, Hema and Navin, had enough knowledge about love but they could not still fully realize it. So, they are on their ways to discover the essence of love.…

    Art of Loving

Upon reading Erich Fromm's The Art of Loving, I gained a better understanding of what love really is. Fromm's book puts love into perspective. He begins with several facts with regards to the attitude in which people treat love. They are the problems of how to be loved, the object to love as well as the confusion between the initial experience of falling in love and the permanent state of being in love, which had a great impact on me, as far as thinking about what love is.…

    The Light

I am going to start this reflective paper with the most predictable beginning: What does it mean to love for the sake of love? Getting to the main point commenced with research first, tackling concepts about love, particularly on what it is. What is love? The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines love in various ways, some of which are the following – Love is a strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties, an attraction based on sexual desire, or affection based on admiration, benevolence or common interests. Some people view love by associating the noun to people or objects, e.g. “Love is my wife”, “Love is my circle of friends”, or “Love is my sparkling BMW”. Some descriptions are from songs, like the song “Love” from Petra, with the lyrics going like this: Love is patient, love is kind, no eyes of envy, true love is blind. Love is humble, it knows no pride, no selfish motive hidden inside… and sooo on. In many different parts of the world, love is defined countlessly. It is in the nature of man to make sense of things that are abstract (like love) in order to have a stable grasp on what goes on in the universe. So here is my version of making sense of love. Love, for me, is something magical that spurs deep inside and opens each of our hearts to different strengths and possibilities. Love is mystical, love is a mystery, and love is everywhere.…
