Digital Bangladesh
Digital Bangladesh is a wonderful vision that is dreamt by the government and the literate class for the technological development of Bangladesh. Digitalization has become a buzzword in the new era of information technology. We can now learn in an instant what is happening in the furthest corner of the world. The electronic transfer of information via the internet has created an interconnected world of information.
Bangladesh is going to observe digital year in 2011 to mark the journey to digital Bangladesh. The government has taken up an initiative for setting up Union Information Centres (UIC) in 1000 unions in line with the dream to build Digital Bangladesh by 2021. This programme is a welcome development towards reaching information technology facilities to the doorsteps of rural people. The village people will easily get information about agriculture, health, education, marketing and employment from the UICs. The government has also moved to formulate new laws empowering an authority to set up six hi-tech parks with the aim of establishing foreign investment in the information technology sector.The Supreme Court (SC) is going to be digitalized soon. All cases related to information of the SC will be available in its website. Dhaka Metropolitan Police is also going to install a hi-tech monitoring system in the central control room to make contact with the on-duty police anywhere within the metropolitan area. Digitalization will largely change banking and financial activities. Worldwide money transfer and transaction of business have now become a matter of clicking the mouse of a computer. Some products like software and TV programmes are also amenable to digital transmission. We will be able to buy and sell goods through the electronic screen if we can make a Digital Bangladesh.     The statement that “Ethan Frome, ultimately succeeds because of [Wharton] including the subtle backdrop of Naturalism” is true because without that premise, this story is just a story of one instance that could not teach us much. It is made meaningful by the backdrop of Naturalism because it can be connected to infinite stories or circumstances. The connection teaches us about ourselves and the humans around us. By “exploring the complexity of human emotion against the fundamentals of Nature”, we see how similar we are to Nature and how closely bonded to it each one of us is. The Naturalism found in the book points out and helps us to understand our helplessness, savageness and instinctive desires. On page 103 of Ethan Frome, Zeena is described as a “listless creature”, an “alien presence” with a habit of “silent brooding”. These descriptions are very animalistic and for the first time Ethan realizes that Zeena is like Nature, she can give him everything and also “[take] everything else from him”. Zeena not only gave Ethan Mattie, but the ability to love and feel passion. Ethan feels that Zeena has “mastered him”, similar to how earlier on in the book a snowstorm masters the whole town who is powerless against it. Ethan understands his helplessness around Zeena and it brings out a rage he has never felt before. A “flame of hate” rises up in him and he has to mentally restrain himself from his physical urges after taking a “wild step” towards Zeena. This specific passage shows the struggle between the mind and natural urges. By exploring human emotion against Naturalism, it becomes apparent how primitive humans are and how vulnerable we are to both Nature and our emotions.…

    Chris McCandless‘s admirers are wrong to believe that he was a deeply honest person. At some moments in Into the Wild, he was not an honest person. According to Westerberg, a McCandless’s friend, said, “He never explained why he’d changed his name” (Krakauer 18). When McCandless decided to make a trip into the wild, he changed his name; he did not even bring any identification with him. During the trip, everybody knew about him under the name Alex. Westerberg was a friend that was close to McCandless, but he never knew McCandless’s real name until he discovered from McCandless’s tax form. Westerberg was so surprised, but he did not ask McCandless the reason why he changed his name. Westerberg knew something happened between McCandless and his father, which McCandless never told him. Unfortunately, he did not have a change to hear the truth from McCandless. The significance about changing his name was that McCandless did not want everybody to know the truth of his personality. He hid everything about himself and his family, except his sister. It was a pain in his heart when he thought about his father. Beside this, McCandless was also a dishonest person in his family. He kept all things he knew about his father inside, even his sister. In Into the Wild, Jon Krakauer wrote, “but he did not confront his parents with what he knew, then or ever. He chose instead to make a secret of his dark knowledge and express his range obliquely, in silence and sullen withdrawal” (Krakauer 123). These actions by McCandless suggest much about his character. His problem with his father could be solved if he told the truth with his parents, but he never did that. He just kept inside and became angry to his father, even lying to his friend with a new name. Lying with his friend and his family was lying to himself. I began paying bills, I made sure that my father had breakfast in the morning and had taken his medication before I went off to school. While taking care of my father, I learned the names of his medications and what their purposes were; I gave him his insulin shots, performed glucose testing and readings, took his blood pressure, as well as planning nutritional meals to keep his heart in good shape and his diabetes under control. I did this through my entire four years of high school. What I have learned from taking care of my father is patience, courteousness, the importance of listening to what the patient needs, and no matter how bad your day goes, never let it show or take it out on anyone.…

    Stoicism dates back to third century BC in Athens, changed many people’s lives. This philosophy is about a school that mainly teaches about Greek philosophies. With these beliefs gained from Stoicism, people developed idealism that impacted them greatly. Some learned how to believe in themselves and to be a great help to their surroundings. Stoics believed that virtue is the main key to Stoicism. This philosophy depends on one’s strength of will. Most stoics believed that good things and bad things will occur in everyone’s life—it is all set upon their actions, after all. The belief of Stoicism was to practice how to self-control their doings and to learn how to control/change their emotions without affecting one another. As to their belief, Stoics agreed that clearing your own mind will bring back positive outcomes, and also a better understanding of life. Being angry, envying something, and having jealousy should be avoided at all cost. This philosophy eventually lasted until three different periods past. It introduced a vast majority of the universe, physics, ethics, psychology, and political terms. Another popular philosophy during the BC era was Epicureanism. As similar to Stoicism, it also originated from the third century. Epicureans, who believed in one god or more, were convinced that a god will not interfere in anyone’s life. They believed that not having fear, or having a state of tranquility gained by living a glorious life, will bring great outcomes. Epicarus, the person who founded this philosophy, defined the meaning of Epicureanism. It is meant to erase any trouble from your mind, release your pain from your body, and to have a goal of living a long, happy life.
