You will write a substantial and substantiated essay using information, facts, data, and quotations from your readings and all proper forms of citing your sources. This essay will conform to the document Rules for Writing.

The essay will be prepared as an attached document in either Microsoft Word or a rtf formats and upon submission will be run through the turnitin originality evaluation process.

The essay should be from three to five pages of thoughtful collection and assimilation of what you have learned. Because the questions are so broad based, you will probably have to be selective and use examples of the phenomenon you are discussing and the themes you are developing. That is perfectly fine and in some respects the value and quality of your examples serve as very good indicators of your understanding of the historical processes and your analytical skills.

Theme 2: POLITICAL AND SOCIAL ORGANIZATION: POWER, AUTHORITY, AND GOVERNANCE

Analyze the ideas and governmental mechanisms to meet the needs and desires of populations, to regulate territory, to manage conflict, and to establish order and security for the ancient civilizations up to Rome.
Theme 3: THE ECONOMY: PRODUCTION, DISTRIBUTION, AND CONSUMPTION

Explain how economic systems structure choices about how goods and services are to be produced and distributed and the major features of the ancient economies up to Rome.
