The state of Petristan in the Indian subcontinent spreads across the watershed of Paratha River system to the west and Korma River in the East. The early civilization of the Paratha Valley has been acknowledged as one of the past glories of southern Asia ranging from 2700 to 1700 B.C. Today, recent findings have suggested that this civilization was profoundly influential on the formation of the Petristan state. Therefore, the Petristan State Archaeological Survey has investigated 5000 sherds derived from eighteen probably states which were selected by random sampling techniques. Fifteen sites that are thought be single-period villages and three urban sites, Garam Masala, Tiltandula and Phul-Gobi, were carefully looked at. In order to derive a chronological order of these assemblages, the relative dating method of seriation has been implemented. Through this, the initial development of Petristan through the influence of Paratha Valley can be understood to a further extent.…

Archaeological data suggests that the date 2200 B.C can divide the occurrence of square ended seals from rectangular ones. Assumedly, any sampled sites with the presence of square ended seals existed prior to 2200 B.C, while the rest of the sampled sites with rectangular seals existed after this particular date. Consequently, we may indicate sites dated prior to or up to 2200 B.C, and sites “B”, “D”, Garam Masala (GM), and Phul-Ghobi Lower (PGL) fits the equation since all of these sampled sites had square seals. On the other hand, rectangular seals were only found in four sites of “B”, “C”, “E”, Tiltandula (T), and Phul-Ghobi Upper (PGU). In particular, site “B” has both of the square and rectangular seals each that may suggests that the site existed prior to 2200 B.C and have the possibility to continue for some time after. In addition, Lower Phul-Ghobi (LPG) and Upper Phul-Ghobi (UPG) were radiocarbon dated back to 2450 ± 70 BC and 2100 ± 50 B.C respectively.…

We began our journey in a group of 14 in a 14-Seater Mahindra bus. Our first destination was Rampur almost 300 kilometers from Haridwar. Rampur is the most affordable human settlement for people who come on pilgrimage to Kedarnath. As the altitude increased the temperature decreased. After a long 15 hour bus journey we finally made to Rampur at around midnight. The small village was lively with small time businessmen and children. Everyone was trying to make the most of this pilgrimage season. The rooms, that are otherwise available for only Rs. 200-400, in this season cost around Rs. 1200. No matter how much you bargain it is impossible to spend a night under 1000 rupees. A bus journey on such roads can prove just as tiring as a 10 mile trek. We were all zonked out and after a light supper everyone slept like a logs. Everyone except me.…
