Oxygen – Carbon dioxide Cycle

The Carbon Dioxide- Oxygen Cycle relates to the relationship between Carbon Dioxide [CO2] breathing plants and Oxygen [O2] breathing life forms. All oxygen-breathing life forms take in Oxygen and exhale CO2. Plants take in the CO2 and use it in their photosynthesis process and in turn give off oxygen. The Carbon Dioxide-Oxygen Cycle is a continuously occurring process whereby animals inhale Oxygen and then exhale carbon dioxide, and plants use the CO2 and "exhale" O2. Plants and other producers use carbon dioxide in photosynthesis. They produce oxygen as a waste product. Carbon dioxide moves from the air into the leaves of plants. Oxygen moves from the plant into the air through the leaves. Almost all living things, including plants, get energy from cellular respiration. This process releases energy from the sugar molecules in food. Oxygen is used in cellular respiration. Carbon dioxide is produced as a waste product. The oxygen produced during photosynthesis is used in cellular respiration. The carbon dioxide produced in cellular respiration is used in photosynthesis. Carbon dioxide and oxygen move through the ecosystem in this path called the CARBON DIOXIDE-OXYGEN CYCLE. During photosynthesis, algae green plants take in CO2 from the air. They use CO2, along with H2O and the sun's energy, to make their own food (respiration). In this process, O2 is released as a waste product. Plants and animals need this oxygen to release energy from food. During photosynthesis green plants take in CO2 from the air. They use CO2 along with H2O and the sun's energy to make their own food (respiration). In this process O2 is released as a waste product. Plants and Animals need O2 to release energy from food. In the process O2 is taken in and CO2 is released. Carbon is also released as CO2 when organisms die and decay (work of decomposers).

One of the largest cycles that occurs all around us is in everyday life is the carbon cycle. The current atmospheric composition currently consists of approximately 0.04% of Carbon dioxide. A large proportion of it is found dissolved in the oceans as well as the atmosphere. The carbon cycle consists of 6 stages. Initially the CO2 that is absorbed by plants for the use in photosynthesis becomes carbon compounds in plant tissue. The carbon is moved up the food chain by consumption, a primary consumer. It is passed on to the secondary and tertiary consumers when they eat other consumers. When these organisms die they are digested by microorganisms known as decomposers (bacteria and fungi), when these decomposers feed on the dead organism it is called saprobiotic nutrition. The carbon is then released back into the atmosphere and other living organisms which proceed on to respiring and this causes CO2 to be released. However if the dead organism ends up somewhere were there is no decomposers present, then this matter will turn into fossil fuels over millions of years. We will then extract the fossil fuels and use them for energy and as fuels, this process known as combustion is very widely used, it then releases CO2 back into the atmosphere where it once came from.…

Photosynthesis is the process by which plants create food for themselves which occurs in the cytoplast organ of the cell. They absorb carbon dioxide, water, and solar energy to produce glucose and oxygen (Doc C). Cellular respiration on the other hand, is the process occurring in the mitochondria by which organisms create energy to power cellular processes. This process takes in glucose and oxygen to create carbon dioxide, water, and energy in the form of ATP (Doc C). These processes follow the law of conservation of matter and energy as the amount of products is always equal to the amount of reactants in a chemical equation. So the amount of glucose and oxygen created during photosynthesis is equal to the amount of carbon dioxide and water used and the amount of carbon dioxide and water produced during cellular respiration is equal to the amount of glucose and oxygen used. Many people notice that the products of cellular respiration are the reactants of photosynthesis and the products of photosynthesis are the reactants of cellular respiration. This is because the two processes work together to provide organisms with food and…

Photosynthesis is the process of converting solar energy, carbon dioxide (CO2), and water (H2O) into carbohydrates (CH2O) and oxygen (O2). Sometimes the end product of photosynthesis is glucose (C6H12O6). Photosynthesis takes place in the chloroplasts of plant cells. Here membranous thylakoids are stacked in grana surrounded by the stroma. During the light reactions, pigments within the thylakoid membranes absorb solar energy, water is split, and oxygen is released. (Mader, 2010)…

The respiration and photosynthesis cycle is the process by which plants and animals interact in a codependent and symbiotic manner to produce the nutrients, gases, and energy that they require to survive. Plants obtain energy from sunlight and use it to combine carbon dioxide and water into glucose and oxygen. This process is called photosynthesis. Animals eat plants containing glucose, and combine glucose and oxygen, releasing energy, water, and carbon dioxide. This process is called respiration. Plants take in carbon dioxide produced by animals, and release oxygen which animals require. Animals take in oxygen produced by plants, and release carbon dioxide which plants require. Plants obtain energy from the sun, store that energy in glucose, and animals obtain the energy stored in glucose by eating plants. Plant photosynthesis and animal respiration are symbiotic processes which occur in a continuous and cyclical manner, making life on Earth as we know it possible.…

Photosynthesis and cellular respiration play significant roles in existence of all living organisms on the planet. Supplying energy to the cells they carry out is the main process called life. Photosynthesis is the process by which several living organisms such as plants and bacteria utilize sunlight and several raw materials such as carbon dioxide and water to produce sugars and release oxygen into the atmosphere. It does not only supplies oxygen which required for human life but it is also the primary source of food energy for all forms of life, directly or indirectly. Cellular respiration is the process of converting food molecules such as glucose into energy in the form of ATP. In this process, oxygen is utilized and carbon dioxide is produced. Carbon dioxide, required for photosynthesis by plants is replenished by carbon dioxide released in respiration. Similar to oxygen required for respiration is replenished by oxygen released in photosynthesis. Thus, photosynthesis and cellular respiration compliments each other to help maintaining the balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide in nature. Three differences that exist between these two chemical processes is that photosynthesis captures sunlight energy to make food for the plants and other organisms while cellular respiration extracts energy from food molecules. Another difference between photosynthesis and respiration is where it occurs, one being in plants and some bacteria and the other being in most every other living thing. The last difference is cellular respiration processes are divided into processes that require oxygen and those that do not require oxygen while the processes of photosynthesis are divided into those that require light energy and those that do not require light energy. The things to remember are that photosynthesis uses carbon dioxide, water and light to make glucose and oxygen, while respiration uses glucose and oxygen to make carbon dioxide, water and…

We believe that it's vital to understand how the carbon cycle works in order to see the danger of it not working. Therefore, let's look at a sample carbon cycle and explore how carbon atoms move through our natural world. Plants, animals, and soil interact to make up the basic cycles of nature. In the carbon cycle, plants absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and use it, combined with water they get from the soil, to make the substances they need for growth. The process of photosynthesis incorporates the carbon atoms from carbon dioxide into sugars. Animals, such as the rabbit pictured here, eat the plants and use the carbon to build their own tissues. Other animals, such as the fox, eat the rabbit and then use the carbon for their own needs. These animals return carbon dioxide into the air when they breathe, and when they die, since the carbon is returned to the soil during decomposition. The carbon atoms in soil may then be used in a new plant or small microorganisms. Ultimately, the same carbon atom can move through many organisms and even end in the same place where it began. Herein lies the fascination of the carbon cycle; the same atoms can be recycled for millennia!…
