Overcoming Adversity Research Paper
Overcoming Adversity
Overcoming is about accepting the issues at hand and trying to find an efficient, effective way of working around those issues. You can not be stopped by a problem that is in front of you, you can only stop yourself. Giving all of your ambition and effort to work around your problems in life, is the only way to succeed. Personally in life I have seen people with great potential and leadership skills become terrible leaders due to their lack of patience and will to succeed, only because they had difficult challenges ahead of them.

Beating something can require perseverance in many different ways. In The Call of the Wild, Buck is taken from his cozy home and put on a sled dog team. He fights with the lead dog, Spitz, often, until one time Buck finally beat him in a fight. On the other hand, my Gram went to college and took a speech class. She was afraid of speaking in front of a large group of people, so she used perseverance to help her control her decisions. While Buck and Gram are different, they were both afraid at one point and both beat a fear they had. Both Gram and Buck had to experience something new, whether it was fighting with another dog or going to college and talking in front of people.…

There are many things standing in ones way of prevailing. The most important thing to remember is that having worthy character traits such as the will to survive and courage will bring you through those obstacles. In the face of adversity, moral character causes some people to prevail while others fail.…

“Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant.” What the Roman poet Horace was saying was that when there is an obstacle in our way, our true colors will radiate. I could not agree more. When we as human beings feel passionate about achieving a goal, we may learn something new of ourselves, maybe a new trait that we did not know we possessed, when we reach new heights we did not know we could push ourselves towards. Challenges are similar to tests. Challenges are faced every day, but how we respond to them determines how strong we really are. Prime examples are superheroes and students that move dramatically.…

Overcoming Obstacles Makes Better Individuals “Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome” (Booker T. Washington). Obstacles are a required part of life if you wish to grow and develop. If you do not face challenges, you will not become a strong person. Individuals pushing to achieve the goals we set and overcoming the roadblocks ahead of us are what make us who we are. In the novel The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton and in my own personal experience, people encounter obstacles, and eventually overcome them.…

This paper was especially hard for me to write. Usually there is a very strict explanation as to what is needed and expected. However, with this paper it was different. We got a statement and were able to choose the way in which we wanted to portray the idea or thought. To me that is difficult. I have never been one to be short on words and can normally be found talking to whom ever will listen. The topic that we must write on is "Bravery in the face of Adversity." One definition of bravery I found was " a quality of spirit that enables one to face danger or pain without showing fear. Adversity has been defined as a condition marked by misfortune or bad luck. My first thought was to write about the Civil War and African-American soldiers.…
