1.) What have you found to be the typical drivers or reasons for organizational change efforts?
The most typical driver of change in any company is the external environment itself. Usually, this entails law changes, market changes, and unfortunate events such as accidents, business scandals, and market crashes. One of the key drivers of change is, really, the prevailing market conditions itself: it can force companies to lay off workers, change working conditions, downsize operations and generally make business harder for the management. Conversely, it can also lead to good profits, new benefits, and new opportunities for growth. Based from my personal experience, the most effective means of communication is through holding regular meetings between the employees and the leaders. It is of vital importance that leaders attend the meetings, in order for the staff to know that the change effort is a serious one. A weekly meeting between the manager and his/ her staff would do to keep track of the progress of the change effort. Also, distribution of information sheets amongst the employees is a viable method of communication. In this way, the employees would not be misinformed with regards to the comprehensive details of the change effort.

6.) If you could go back in time and advise yourself about what is needed to lead a successful organizational change effort, what would you tell yourself?
In every transitional situation, one needs to be aware of the happenings surrounding one self. This is the key factor amongst successful managers. To be honest, I'm not as self-aware as I could be. This would be disastrous in most situations. Furthermore, I would push myself to become more engaged with people, seeing as how important managing influence is in such situations. Finally, I would tell myself to be more receptive and open to new ideas. It's common for managers to simply do their day-to-day work and not think about the horizon.     There are three different categories that a manager needs to be aware of in any organization when implementing change. Change in people is first; how implementing change and how people relate to each other effects how an organization functions effectively.     When it comes to the word change in an organization change can be one of the most difficult things to successfully accomplish. Change management is a process that an organization to make change for the future. When it comes to change management it gives effective strategies to enable the change agents to be able to achieve the vision or goals that are set in place. Looking at my company there is always change when it comes to healthcare. As a whole there are two kinds of change agents that make a difference within the company. When implementing change you have critical steps that are required. The first is to identify the roles that will be played during the process.     One change that I have experience in my organization would be when the company actually decided to update its system regarding scheduling the employees. For years we were using a software called work brain that would allow any assistant manager to schedule as many associates as you want as long as it would meet the payroll department needs. Now with the new software called Kronos, the schedule is weekly generated by the system itself according to the needs of the business, no more overlapping shift. Before the new system was implemented, my manager started having daily meetings to inform everybody and educate everybody about the importance of the change. I guess she wanted the change to go smooth, which it actually did. All the operations managers were virtually trained on how to use the new software. We were all prepared and trained on the new software and it helped us a lot when it was time to train our own team. The line of communication and the training provided were so effective that we all feel comfortable when the new software was actually launched. And even after the launch, we were still having an ongoing training. In this case the coach image was used by the head manager. In this case the manager actually created an environment in which empowerment can happen, she also prepared the ground for the changes that were needed.…
