ORGANISATIONAL BEHAVIOUR

ABSTRACT The purpose of this assignment is to assess my ability to analyse, synthesise and evaluate the leadership styles of a successful organizational leader. It is also designed to enable me to apply the relevant theories of leadership that I have learned in my Organizational Behaviour course to explain why the leader is successful. This assignment will also assess my ability to justify the reasons or bases why I have chosen Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Zeti Akhtar Aziz as a successful leader in Bank Negara Malaysia.

    Thanks to consistent growth of economy and multidomestic exchange, the logistics industry has been witnessing buoyant growth and will continue this growth momentum in years to come (Rajaram, 2011). The demand for logistics services in China has been largely fueled by consistent growth of economy, and key industries such as automotive, engineering, pharmaceuticals and food processing. Similarly, individuals’ demand for logistics service has been also dramatically increased because of the convenience provided by modern technology such as online shopping. As a result, express companies were founded and promptly expanded to fulfill the customers’ demands for a rapid, efficient and secure shipping service. In China, there are currently more than 1,000 registered express companies operating and offering logistics services to either individuals or organizations. However, it is true that various problems are existing within those companies, which lead to significantly negative impacts on organizational effectiveness and relationship with clients. This report will focus on one representative express company in China, which is called Shentong Express and investigate the company’s problems and underlying causes behind them. This report will also recommend solutions that address the symptoms and causes to improve the organization’s performance and productivity.…

    Mayor Sam Small is nearing completion of his first term in office. He feels his record has been pretty good, except for the controversial issue of housing. He has been able to avoid doing anything about housing so far and feels very strongly that this issue must not come to a head before the next election.     Every company has one common goal which is to maximize its profit margins or enhance productivity regardless of the field in question. However different companies approach this objective through different ways due to their internal structure, industry, size, business environment and other variables that form its organizational culture. The study of these mannerisms from management to employees can be said to be organizational behaviour. Sheetal Narkar defines it as “The field of study which investigates the input that individuals, groups and structures have on behavior within an organization”.9 It depicts the organization as a piece of machinery that has several parts that need to work cohesively for the machine to function properly. The study of the behavioral characteristics of each part and the individual roles they play to form a distinct pattern or mode of operation is what is referred to as organizational behaviour. The online business dictionary further defines organizational behavior as, “The study of the way people interact within groups to attempt to create a more efficient business organization.” Based on these definitions I believe organizational behaviour can be said to be the total characteristics of the different segments of an organization projected towards maximizing effectiveness and productivity of the organization.…
