Optometrist Career
Introduction A short time ago, my ELA teacher, Ms. Pennington, introduced the the class to CFNC. This is a program to help you figure out what you may want to do in the future and what career would fit you best based of different surveys. These surveys give you information on your abilities, interests, skills, etc. and give you career choices that would fit these results.

At first, I didn’t think that the surveys would be very accurate or useful to what I was like but am but it turned out to be very specific to find out your skillset and personality. The Basic Skills Survey told me that most of my basic skills are at medium level and that my highest ranking basic skills are active listening and learning strategies. The Career Cluster

Since that is just the average, I could be making more or less but either way it is a very good salary. When starting the profession, the average salary goes down to $64,910 with the hourly wage being $31.21 which is still very decent but hopefully I will be in the profession long enough to bring it up.

High School
My plan for high school is to take any health science classes possible in my freshmen year and as the years go on, I will narrow it down to something a little more specific of a class going towards that career. I do plan on doing sports and maybe some extracurricular activities throughout high school but I will not let it get in the way of my education.
In high school, I plan on taking many AP classes and a lot of science and math classes including biology, chemistry, physics, and calculus. Taking a lot of AP and Honors classes will increase my GPA and get me into a good college that would suit my intended career. By the end of high school, I plan on having a GPA of at least 4.0 so that I can have a very good chance of getting into college.

High school students do not realize that when they get to college these classes force students, or encourage them, to learn responsibilities. You are now able to make all your own decisions: what you study and when you study it. Unlike high school, you are treated like an adult in post secondary classes. You are given responsibilities and tasks to complete on your own time after your professor has left the lecture. This allows you to shape your degree in anyway you want. Perhaps specializing in biology and chemistry to become a Physician, or majoring in accounting to become a Chartered Accountant. Whichever path you choose will be based on the decisions you make along the…
