Our first mistake could be thinking that one is better than the other. Or that one exists without the other. However, progress comes from adapting to the environment in which we find ourselves and training like everything else in our lives is going “online". So anyone who wants to make a difference in vocational education can now raise their sights to master the “classroom on the cloud”.! !

So what do we want to bring with us, from the old methods and what new technology and understanding is coming to light for the Online Educator. The following 5 points are a good place to start for blending methods of adult education and technology. !

1. Acknowledge the student. Get to know the student, find out what they know and fill the gaps to what there learning journey needs, weather it is skills, knowledge or reflection. There are so many benefits in getting to know your student. When you think of a positive learning process, doesn't it include someone who you connected with, either an educator or a fellow learner that could help you know yourself and the new information you were processing. This challenge is not easy on any platform, however it is the core element to helping your students connect the dots. Who ever your students are they can be filtered by their past experience, and their current desire. Skill levels of course need to be taken into account but most people , under the right circumstances can learn anything. 
 Intuitively the successful facilitator will look for events ,interests, experiences, comments and unspoken words that indicate the learners character. They will then use these points of contact to connect the learner to the learning experience. Online this can be almost an exact science with a method as simple as a data base of commonalities. Age, previous experience and education, tell us a great deal about the student and are required in the enrolment process.
