Chapter 1
INTRODUCTION

Situation Analysis “If you want to impose change into something, you have to evaluate first where it stands at the moment. That’s the only way you could completely understand the needed improvement.”

As you walk in the lobby, embrace the warm welcome and smiles of the staff and feel at home. From friendly and courteous staff to upscale and cozy accommodations, Paiko Shores Beach Resort and Spa will meet your expectations.

Paiko Blue Waters Beach Resort and Spa is a good get-away for people who want to relax and have fun in the beach. Play and enjoy the heat of the sun amidst coconut trees and sandy beach. Experience the Ilocano hospitality and savor our famous Ilocano delicacies – ‘dinengdeng’, ‘pinakbet’ and ‘kilawen’. Paiko’s location is in a beach of Caba, La union at barangay San Carlos.

Mr. Earl Smith, one of the stock holder of the resort, loves to travel internationally and having tours into relaxing places. And he got the interest of buying a share in Paiko Resort from Jose Ma. F. Gonzales, owner of Paiko.

Paiko Blue Waters Beach Resort and Spa has a manual and offline booking system. The process for their booking; checking the availability of rooms, filling up registration Card, paying fees or a deposit for the reservation of the rooms they want to have, and they use physical bulletin board to post the reservations with client’s names.

The problem domain is it makes their services slow, especially in their booking system. A guest must contact the resort to have a reservation and it is difficult to take deposits.

Taking into consideration that the advent of computers had revolutionized, so shall the way of Paiko should perform their functions. Nowadays, hotels and resorts uses new technologies that have expanded booking system opportunities through the Internet

Through an online hotel reservation system, hoteliers and travelers will both be benefited.
