Online Dating Persuasive Speech
Now some readers are saying right about now, '˜Courtship? You can't be serious! That is so old school. How can this be a remedy for dating?'Well many of you are looking at it from a Christian point of view and you shun that idea, but merely from solution standpoint, why not? A solution to what, you may ask? Given the fact that our children are growing up faster, peer pressure is at an all time high, we adults need to look at ways to help our young teens move into adult-hood, training them to make wise decisions. Who they want to date is one of them. Here are some numbers for you to think about: 1 out of 5 high school girls is physically or sexually abused; in a study of 8th and 9th graders, 25% said they were involved in dating violence (see …show more content…
His credentials? He's a male who's online dated. That's it. I then searched around the internet and discovered an advice column - and online dating advice book - written for men by a woman. Her credentials? That she's a woman who's online dated - that's it. I found several online dating coaches too and their credentials were, quite simply, that they had online dated. Some even exclaimed, in exuberant self-promotion, that they had found their soulmates online - thus implying that this success made them more than simple experts. This made them masters at online dating. This self-professed proficiency is odd to me. For instance, I've been cooking for myself for about 20 years, but could I call myself an expert? Apparently I could. But, am I? Well, put it this way, I only recently discovered that paprika and cayenne pepper - though similar in looks - taste nothing alike. The two friends I had over for dinner can vouch for this once they start talking to me again. So, yes, I cook, but God help anyone who comes to me for advice on it. Which brings me back to those columnists, authors and coaches people trust with their hearts for no reason other than, having online dated, presumably makes them

As I said before it’s a picture of myself in a snapchat filter. I am adorned with a crown of white butterflies, you guys know the one. It lightens your skin a bit, and makes your eyes look a little strange. Parts of my audience may already be backtracking because filters are controversial. An individual who is less than…bewitching may post a picture of themselves under the veil of a filter. As time goes on others see this individual in person or they upload a filter-less photo. The population is shocked by the lies! Here comes the, “How dare they post that? “or, “That don’t even look like him/her.” Filters can destroy an ethos appeal because it causes a sense of dishonesty.…

Technology has implemented itself in almost every aspect of our daily lives, and the new big thing we have currently is the rave of online dating. Computers are day in day out coming out with new dating websites, and people are buying into the whole idea of it being a last resort and only option left. Of course it is so much easier to sit on a computer and explain detailed information about yourself and come up with matches or results, but where was this decades ago when there was no such thing as the internet. Before computers this means that men and women actually had to go out in public and communicate back and forth to find their life partners.…

The first dating rule for my children would be that they have to be at least an eighth grader. Even then, I have to approve of their choice. I know from experience that not being allowed to date can cause teenage kids to rebel. If the person my kid likes feels the same way, they deserve to try dating. Especially because it is not too serious when they cannot yet drive to dates. I think by the age of 14-15, they can become more independent and make their own choices. Letting teenage kids date is a small thing as a parent that means a lot to kids.…

Ughhhh. Parents am I right? They’re always telling us to clean our room, brush our teeth, get our homework done, but should they be able to tell us who and who not to date? Its an interesting question when you look at it from both points of view. As a parent, you want the best for your kids and the old saying goes, parents (or mothers) know best. But as a young adult you want freedom and control of your life. Even after looking at both sides, it’s clear that parents make the best decisions.…

    Dating Violence

The segment about college dating violence impacted my perception on intimate relationships, but it helped me understand the warning signs and what the states/federal statutes define assault. After reading this article, what particularly enlightened me was various risk and protective factors in dating violence, but very little empirical research on dating violence among a particular age group and education level. The awareness of dating violence among various age groups and to evaluate the effect of these awareness programs. For instance, a presentation on dating violence and ways to help or refer someone if they need assistance. After reading this article and others on dating violence enhanced my understanding of the topic and my personal life because I’m currently a college student. In addition, this better understanding may potentially help me in my job in the criminal justice field. For instance, I may help someone who I know get the assistance he/she needs to get out of that abusive relationship. According to the article, college students have a 10% to 50% chance of experiencing dating violence. (Kaukinen, 2014, p. 284) According to this statistic, approximately half of college students experience dating violence, which can have a negative impact on their well-being and health. For some college students this might be their first serious romantic relationship making them vulnerable to dating violence.I believe that a program on college campuses is necessary to reduce dating violence and teach about ways to prevent dating violence. Admittedly, my personal perspective on the dating violence has changed and I’m more aware of the risk and protective factors allowing me to assist someone. As Catherine Kaukinen stated in the article “dating violence is an important social problem requiring a public health approach to…

One problem that seems to be increasing over time is the unmarried birth rates in America. Increasing from 18.4% of all births in 1980 to over 40% in 2010(FP-12-06), the current rate is showing that over the last 3 decades teens are becoming more apt to engage in pre-marital sex. The changing in norms and values over the past three decades has lead to a huge increase in unmarried birth rates increasing. It’s not really against cultural norms to engage in the hook-up or have sex with more than one partner in your life like it used to be. Over half of all minority births were to unmarried women, with an alarming 74% of births among black women, 54% to Hispanics(FP-12-06). 74% of blacks while nearly 50% of them were single, also common amongst Hispanics almost 20%(FP-12-06). On the other hand Whites are at a low 30% total of all births being premarital (FP-12-06). Among teens experiencing a nonmarital birth, 45% of the babies were born to single mothers versus 44% to cohabiting mothers(FP-12-06). According to statistics, the increase of age is related to increased rate of cohabiting unmarried births, with a decrease in single mothers. Based on statistics mothers who are less educated are more likely to have premarital birth than those who are highly educated. Minorities leading the way with the most premarital babies, over half being single mothers, this plays a big role in a majority being drop and having to work to support the baby. Causing a developing an endless cycle amongst blacks and other minorities. With the mother having little education, education thus becomes second to the child, and only having one parent present can develop some withdrawal from love. Thus at a young age the child then goes searching for this love and can come at the cost of a premarital baby.…
