Face-to-Face vs. Online Classes or Constructive Feedback Essay

I now hope that my discussion to take online classes was a good one, December 2010 my Grandmother found out that she had breast cancer; I dedicated myself to make sure that she went to her appointments, because I was raised by my grandparents. At first I decided to keep my life outside of work to myself. I was attending classes and taking my grandmother and my grandfather to their medical appointments, and taking care of my family. April 2011 we found out that my grandfather had terminal lung cancer; this was all confusing to me because my grandfather never smoked a day in his life. We buried him in July 2011. Before his death I decided to take classes online, so that I would be able to continue to take my grandmother to her chemo treatments and to prepare her for surgery, she decided she wanted to remove the breast.
When deciding to go back to school as an adult, I was faced with the option of taking classes on line, or attending classes on campus. It was a very difficult decision for me to make at first, because I wanted to make sure that whatever decision I made was a good one. I knew what degree I wanted to pursue, I just didn’t know what school I wanted to attend, because so many universities are now offering classes online, I wanted to pick a school that worked best for me. After months of searching and consulting with others I decided to attend Barry University. One reason I decided on Barry, was because I would be able to attend classes at the local community college in my home town and not have to travel, the other reason was because the closer I got to graduating I would be able to take my classes online, and that worked out good for me because of my busy schedule.
I was very much afraid of taking online classes with my schedule being as crazy as it is, I understood that web-based classes require considerably more work, which would require me to spend many nights up doing

To be successful I will have to be self-motivated and self-disciplined to deal with online classes. As I said earlier since I don’t have a structured class schedule I will have to force myself to log into class at least daily to see what inform is available. Another thing is I will have to communicate more using the chat room. In a traditional class some teachers grade you on class participation but there is no seat number of responses you to give like with online. I will have to work just as hard or harder online as I would in a traditional class. Online courses are an easier way to attend school and not necessarily…

Online classes have been another way of learning and obtaining high school diplomas, certifications, training and college degrees. It provides students with online books and articles that students are able to access though the internet. There is endless information that is found on the intranet that teachers can access and relate to. Below is a figure from the Spiral technique that Mack’s indicated a teacher go through to ensure that students were learning the concepts being taught. The spiral assessment could be used in a variety of ways and teachers could use it to evaluate students, or principals evaluating teachers or it can also be used as a self evaluating assessment on content learned. I will be using Dr. Mack’s model as a self evaluation of the online learning experience and will reflect back on the experience and decide whether the online experience contributed to my learning or if it inhibited my learning. I will follow Paul Mack’s spiral plan and evaluate the design of the online lessons and programs I have experienced thus far.…

I have to admit that becoming an online student was not as hard of a decision that I originally thought it was going to be. I have wanted to go back to school for several years, but having a now 13 year old and 1 year old daughter, a 4 year old son, a husband that sometimes acts like a kid, two pets and a large house in the country isn’t something that tends to lead to some free time for things like school.…
