One Man Can Change the World
That One Man Can Change the World “I don’t understand. One man caused all this trouble?” this is quoted from the book, The Boy in Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne, in reference to Hitler. Good Evening chairperson, ladies and gentlemen, the previous statement shows clearly how a single being can alter the world. ‘One man can change the world’ is the philosophical and important topic that we are discussing tonight. As the affirmative team we will be proving to you that this is indeed true and that the doings of an individual can influence the world in an incredibly significant way, the opposition will be trying to prove otherwise. Our team has chosen to define the following words in the topic: one man, can, change and world. The term one man is seen as a single, individual human being; can is defined as to have the capacity to; change can be described as to influence the future course of events different to what it is or would have been if left alone, and world being the majority of humanity that live on Earth. Therefore we take the topic to mean that a single, individual human being has the capacity to influence the future course of events different to what it is or would have been if left alone for the majority of humanity that live on Earth. We believe that this definition is reasonable and in the spirit of the topic. The split we’ve chosen for tonight’s debate is social and political. As first speaker, I will be focusing on the bigger picture of the topic and how this affects society as a whole. Tonight, my main arguments will focus on: the humanitarian Mother Teresa, a more infamous Osama Bin Ladin, and he concept of the butterfly effect. Our second speaker will look at America’s Barack Obama, Ian Frazer and the Gardasil vaccine, and Fred Hollows. Through this our team will use justified and recent examples to prove to you how one man can change the world. As she once said herself, “Do not wait for world leaders; do it alone, person to person”. This

Overall, one must realize the complexity of the issue at hand and how they are clashing viewpoints. There must be a balance of language and deftness at comparing these very large viewpoints of the matter at hand. Furthermore, this writer helps the audience see that perceptions are the ones that are able to change over time and that's the thing which make us the fuller figures. Even though I said that there wasn't any real validity it the issues that exist today, I still think that some of this writing holds true to a…

One person can change the society you live in by expressing their own opinions, ideas, and beliefs. During the Great Depression, there was widespread hardship and largely segregated communities. However, some people had the power to change society which is explained by Harper Lee, through the novel To Kill a Mockingbird. She tells how one person can change society overtime by expressing their ideas, and influencing others by using the amount of power given to them by their social rights, which can be dependent on race, education, age, and many more factors within their community.…

“Those who want to live, let them fight, and those who do not want to fight in this world of eternal struggle do not deserve to live.” That is one of many of Adolf Hitler’s quotes. Hitler was a very despicable man, leaving many people wondering what caused him to do what he did. Knowing that people have the willpower to do such things is very heartbreaking. Hitler did many things in his life and here are just a few; his early life, the rise of anti-semitism and his part in the Holocaust.…

Many people believe that humans can’t change the world especially when they say they can. At the same time there are many people that believe humans can change the world that they want to live in if they set their mind to it. All throughout history there is evidence that shows that one person is strong enough to change the world. For example reformers in Germany and Italy. Many people wanted change and some type of change they got. But at that time they were not as advanced as we are today. At this time we could change the world but no one wants to take the first step. They are afraid that history will repeat itself. But some day someone will realize that they are going to have to take the first step to making the world into how they want it and hopefully it will work…

The ability to be independent is a driving force in the world. Self-empowerment of the individual is critical in today’s society. “Society everywhere is in conspiracy against the manhood of every one of its members.” (Emerson). Society conspires to make one like the masses and takes away one’s ability to be independent. An individual should not give into things like media to tell them how to live and live life on his own terms. One’s belief in self allows the empowerment of the individual. “Speak what you think in hard words and tomorrow speak what tomorrow thinks in hard words again, though it contradict everything you day today.” (Emerson). If one thinks something he should believe in it even if he believes in something different tomorrow. When one is an individual, he does not have to explain himself to society. The individual must be independent in order to be transcendental. “Whoso would be a man must be a nonconformist.” (Emerson). Society tells individuals who to be, but in order to be individuals they must not give in to societal pressures. They must be unique and have their quirks. Humanity must become a society of individuals to progress forward toward a brighter future.…
