ONE DAY WHEN EVERYTHING WENT WRONG
"Parveen, you better get up right now or you will be late for school," my mother shouted from the kitchen. Lazily, I pulled the pillow off my face and looked at the clock. I got such a shock to see that the time was already 7.00a.m. I was indeed late. The bus will be here in 15 minutes time. I was definitely going to be late for school. I ran out of my room, grabbed my towel, and dashed into the bathroom. I had no time to bathe, so I just brushed my teeth and washed my face. I got into my uniform. Then I combed my hair. I opened my drawer hastily and pulled out the hair bream bottle. To my dismay, the cream had spilled out. My drawer was a mess. Oh no! Even my favourite ribbons were all smeared with the cream. Me and my butterfingers! I had to comb my hair without the hair cream today. I ran down to have my breakfast. It was ten past seven. Only five minutes to go. So, I took a few sips of milk. Then, I took my school bag from the chair. In a rush, I clumsily knocked down the glass of milk. Shatters of broken glass and milk were all over the carpet. My mum ran from the kitchen to see what had happened. She was so furious with me that she started lecturing me on my clumsiness. I had no time to clean up the mess, so I apologized and immediately went to front door to put on my shoes. Suddenly, I remembered that I left my lunch pack in the kitchen. Running back to kitchen, I almost cried when I heard the bus hooting outside. As fast as I could, I rushed to the door, but only to see that the bus had left. Well, at least I had a bicycle. I took it out from the shed and rode off to school on it. On the way, I suddenly felt that the road was bumpier then usual. I stopped and checked my tyres. What else could be worse? I had a flat tyre. Having no other options, I had to walk. I reached school around 7.45a.m. By that time, everyone was in class. After putting my bike under the bicycle shed, I went to my class. I knocked on the door. I explained

I was fully optimistic that the day would go well, but it did not fall in the plan that I believed it would. It was the same routine in a new environment. My first day at Larned High School started like every first day before me. The principal, Mr. Langdon, gathered all the students and welcomed us into a new school year. The speech as long but informational. It was a familiar speech that I had heard every first day of school. Unfortunately, this familiarity would end, and now I was stuck roaming the halls in a new school looking for my first class.…

It had been a crazy morning as I ran all over my house trying to find my jacket and boots. My mom had been admitted into the hospital that morning for a massive headache and all I could think about was whether or not she would be okay. I took her to the emergency room that day before so going to class was the last thing on my mind. My father and sister had agreed to stay with her till I ended class so I was more at ease knowing she wouldn’t be alone. After running all over my house looking for my things I quickly gathered myself to make my train. I finally got to Penn Station with four minutes to spare. I quickly walked to where the rest of my class was as we waited for instructions to where we would…

I headed to my first class which just so happened to be my favorite subject, English. The hallways were very wide but when filled with students I felt like I had to shove my way through just to get to my locker. The lockers were a mixture between Gray and purple. The school colors were supposed to be purple and silver but there was no way that these lockers could be considered. I took a look at the little piece of paper that the lady in the office had given me and tried out the combination on my locker. It took me about five minutes to open it and after struggling for that long I was a little irritated so when it did open, it flew open and slammed into the locker next to mine. I held my breath and hoped that nobody had noticed. I took a long deep breath and slowly opened my eyes again. Luckily I was still standing alone and nobody around was looking at me. I put my extra books and notebooks into the locker and and closed it as quietly as I could.…

It was a week into my senior year in Ganesha High School. Walking into my third period AVID class, right after our 10 minute nutrition break, everybody, rowdy and noisy, talked about what they had done that weekend or what they had seen at break. As usual I walked towards my seat and as usual it was a task. My school bag was hanging on my side and I had my breakfast box that was filled with a milk carton, an apple, and a packaged bread in my hand; I walked and tried not to trip over the carelessly left bags on the isle. People stood up even after the bell had rung and the noise level was still high. I finally got to my seat; first row, first seat, right next to the teacher’s desk in which he had his computer. I put my bag down on the floor and put my breakfast box on top of my desk. The teacher, Mr. Mariles, came in and everybody took their seat, the noise level lowered distinctively. I turned over to face my friend who was sitting behind me. I whispered to her “Do you know what we’re doing in class today?” she whispered back “I think we are working on our personal statement.” I turned to face the front of the class, with a disgusted expression on my face. The teacher then started to explain what we were going to do that day. He had a smile in his face and was making hand movements all over the…

I was scared. My sister and I got ready, but we were not happy. We knew we had to go to school, and mom would not let us stay home. We walked to the bus stop right across the street from our house. A few minutes later, a big yellow bus pulled up right next to us. We looked at each other and my sister said, “Here we go.”…

Mom showed up so the principal told me to wait in the hallway so he could speak to her in private. I knew she wouldn’t tell him why I was such an angry kid, instead she would lie and tell him she didn’t know why I did what I did and that she would have a talk with me about it.…

Waking up to an average morning walking outside in the crisp morning air to get breakfast for myself. After I ate I headed for school to finish those standardized tests at the end of 6th grade. So far my class did well and was eager to get them over with. While I was in my zone working on the test, I could hear the clock ticking away every precious second passing. I had to get done with my English test before recess. Finally I looked at the clock and the time read 1:53 pm, just with a few minutes to spare, I finally had finished my test. I was glad that one was over with, as I raced home to grab a quick snack before I had to return to school.…

Back home, I walked up the stairs slightly on my heavy legs. I was very sad and worried, especially when meeting my mother, whom I said reliably last night: "I learned it all very carefully." She didn’t know when she went to my grandparents’ house, dad was still at work, I just sat at the table and played computer instead of sitting at the desk and study. There is no reason why I would tell her: "I did not learn at all yesterday". No, definitely not. Facing the door, I suddenly got an idea, “What if I tell her lie?” And that was my decision.…

It all started last summer, when Mom and I were in LL Bean. For those of you who don’t know, my hometown of Freeport Maine, is the head quarters of all LL Bean stores. It’s a huge complex of stores, including a giant hiking boot out front. There are a lot of kids’ areas, so that the parents can shop, while their kids are playing. Anyways, it was August 25. Just an average day in the life of Marielle (that’s me). “How much longer Mom?” I whined. Until, that life changing moment, I had always been kind of a whiny spoiled brat. Looking back on that, I started to realize that. And suddenly, I got a terrible headache, and felt like I was going to die! I said to Mom, “I have to go to the bathroom,” and frantically ran…

I hated to leave them there but I can’t be late for class. I kept running and my eyes were focused behind me to make sure none of the cheerleaders were following me, luckily they weren’t but I wasn’t paying attention to where I was going. The second I looked in front of me, I ran into a girl carrying a ton of books. I ended up tackling her and everything she was carrying fell to the ground. I jumped to my feet and helped the girl stand, “Oh my god, I’m so sorry. Are you ok?” I asked while picking up her books. The girl nodded and grabbed her folders and notebooks that fell out of her backpack. I looked at the girl, she had long brown hair that was up in a ponytail, there were purple glasses resting on her face. She wore a grey jacket, black…

I had to rush to the San Bernardino Valley College library to print out my research paper. Then I was late to my pharmacology class. My front loader Maytag washer machine just decided to break down on me early in the morning. I was on my second load of dark clothes, when I tried to turn the washer machine on. The machine kept saying error. I had 5 other loads to wash and I had asked my mother-in-law, if I could go wash at her house. My mother-in-law was washing and I had to wait until she was done. I didn't get home til 9P.M. and still had to do my trigonometry homework. Next, inanimate objects have their way of getting lost. My direct tv control remote always ends up in weird places. Sundays are game day. It was the first football game of the season and my favorite team Dallas Cowboys were playing at 1:00P.M. It was 15 minutes til the game and the televisions was on the Disney junior channel. I couldn’t find the remote control. Therefore, I had to download the peel remote on my phone in order to change the channel. I notice there was something on the top of my Honda Accord, it was the direct tv…

One moment I was running, running fast, quickly, aggressively. The next moment I’m on the ground crying holding my leg. It happened so fast I didn’t know one movement from the next. After a while I notice I’m on the bench with an ice bag on my knee, while watching my team lose to a great team. After the game I went to the mall able to walk again. The next day I played again, thinking it was nothing but a bruise.…

I woke up that morning and felt happy, I didn’t know why, I figured it was ‘cause I had too much coffee the night before, but then it dawned on me, Jenifer Lawrence, the girl on fire from the Hunger Games, was coming to hang out with me that day!!! Holy crap!!! My house was a mess, I needed to clean it up, and my parents had gone away!!! I was sooo stressed out. First thing is first. I need to take a shower, so I get some clean fancy clothes, darn it, all my clothes are dirty, I’ll just wash them while I take a shower. My washing machine takes a good 30 minutes to be done washing, then comes the drying. While my clothes are washing I’m going to take a good long shower, I turn on my bathroom lights and get in the shower. When I get out of the shower I go take my clothes out of the washing machine and put them on, okay, operation “clean the house for JL” had started. I began by cleaning my bedroom, I first had to get my vacuum cleaner, I started vacuuming, that took me at least 2 hours because I ended up vacuuming the entire house. I was sooo tired when I finished, I had 6 hours left before Jennifer Lawrence arrived, what should I do to impress her? I mean besides talking about physics? I decided I’d make some coffee for the two of us, while all of this happens I remember that the A/C turns on every 30 minutes for 30 minutes, so it is on for 12 hours a day, then I remember to wash my dishes, so I put them in the dishwasher, which takes about an hour. We might watch a movie so maybe I should make some popcorn, so I use my Popcorn maker, that takes about 30 minutes to make. I look out my window and I see that I kind of need to mow the lawn, so I get my lawnmower, that takes me an hour, 5 hours till Jennifer gets here. I decide to make us some pizza, I get all of the ingredients, but I need to unfreeze the chicken in the microwave, when I get everything in the pizza I put it in the oven which will take an hour, I’m nervous because I only…
