At the onset of Jesus’ ministry, people recognized His message as one being authoritative. He preached the kingdom of God with a conviction and focus unknown before His arrival. Many Jewish religious leaders during the time of Jesus’ ministry had their own interpretations of scripture, but Jesus’ message confronted and exposed the falsehood of the Jewish leaders; and the despised Him for it. The Jewish leaders tried on many occasions to expose Jesus’ message as one of falsehood, but when they tried; His message of truth always prevailed.…

The first 39 books of the larger work called the Bible, is called the Old Testament. The Bible itself is arguably the best selling and most read book of all time, yet it’s well known to be quite challenging to read through and understand. The Old Testament portion of the Bible, notably the most difficult portion of the Bible for most to study and follow, yields 39 books from multiple authors, and spans over 4000 years of crucial world and church history. If that were not enough to take on, the Old Testament comes our way through multiple styles of authorship and formats, including but not limited to, books of history, law, proverbs, ethics, philosophy, treatises, dramas, songs, epics, biographies, and letters. There have been many books written and published to survey, explain, and/or bring to light the Old Testament, but none more helpful to me than the review subject of this paper, the work of Dr. Elmer L. Towns, entitled “A Journey Through the Old Testament”.…

In doing this, I hope that we can learn from his direction in stewarding what he has given us, and ultimately bringing glory to him through whatever opportunity we are presented. Keller shows this well when he says "And every Christian should be able to identify, with conviction and satisfaction, the ways in which his or her work participates with God in his creativity and…

The genre of this book is law and it was written by Moses, although it is believed that Joshua reported on his death. The key themes include God’s covenant with Israel, instructions on the early Israelite religion, instructions on the sacrificial system, holiness, cleanliness and the priesthood. God had intervened and delivered the people from slavery and was now establishing his expectations for their behavior and conduct. The major events are God speaking to Moses on Mt. Sinai and giving him the instructions for the structure of the socioeconomic-judicial-political-religious system. These instructions include the anointing of priests, building of the tabernacle, instructions for the rituals of entering the tabernacle, the sacrificial system, the Sabbath year, and acceptable conduct for the people of Israel. The people were given specifics as to foods they were permitted to eat and what animals were to be offered in burnt offerings. These instructions were kept in the Ark of the Covenant. The major personalities were God, Moses, Aaron, and the Israelites. As the book of Leviticus ends, God has established the foundation of Israelite society.…

In today’s time the other main focus besides Jesus Christ is dealing with the concept of mission to where everybody focuses on it. There are many different definitions that have been expounded upon by scholars of the church or by people who have taken a great interest in seeing the word of God spread throughout the world to the lost. As we further explore the scriptures in the bible we can clearly see that God loves his people and he desires to see them not perish. In the book of John 3:16 (KJV) 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. This is the strongest demonstration that God shows and teaches us. Through this we are compelled to put effort into learn the word of God so that we will be effective in sharing the word of God abroad to all the nation of the earth through missions.…
