Of mice and men "dreams"

Dreams are like a house of cards. Once one thing jolts it the wrong way it collapses. Throughout everyone's lifetime they may have many dreams they wish to achieve. Whether they achieve it or not depends on what that person does towards that dream. There are times when the person will achieve their dream, but most of the time they are shot down and destroyed. This is seen in John Steinbeck's novella, Of Mice and Men, as he creates the idea that to make one's dream into a plan involves taking risks and can turn into a dream again at anytime. This is seen in the novel when George, Lennie, and Candy's dream of owning their own ranch is crushed wit the death of Curley's wife.

Dreams are big motivations in one’s life and will convince people to work towards task that would rather seem impossible. Sometimes, dreams do not come true and we realize it was just hope that was motivating us the whole time. George and Lennie’s dream of owning a farm was a minor aspiration to begin with but as time grew; their hopes also grew more promising. Candy’s large contribution towards the cause created a major breakthrough...

When dreams are not fulfilled it always is so crushing and heartbreaking causing pain that can not always be healed. In the book "Of Mice and Men" many characters of the story have experiences on the way, that dreams may feel so close but are too far to hold and ultimately do not come true. Through out the story, the motif of dreams being destroyed is constantly brought up and focused on as the main characters, George and Lennie, undergo a journey that leads them where dreams lead all others, an end. Any dream can be destroyed and cause heartbreak but not every heartbreak can be healed, is proven all through the story "Of Mice and Men" by John Steinbeck.
